It was a matter of time and it cannot be stopped. This is Gold Cobra, by Limp Bizkit.

This may be the Fast & Furious of the Limp Bizkit records. It's not a Fast Five as in "an honestly good rock album", but like Fast & Furious it's a surprisingly well done return to roots. If one ever enjoyed those, that is.

It's not even like Gold Cobra just sounds kinda like the old stuff, it sounds exactly like the old stuff. No St. Anger. The whole of the record could be actual left-over material from Significant Other or Chocolate Starfish, it's stunning. There's nearly nothing of the ways they went on Results May Vary or Unquestionable Truth (only Why Try has TUQ influences), and there's surprisingly not one cheap try to ape the abortion that was Behind Blue Eyes.

Oh, there actually is a difference. While it was kinda embarrassing to see Durst jump around in 1999, it could have been overly ridiculous to do this again at 40. But actually there's a note of self reference in there. It's the first time they seem to wink at you, being clear, that all of it is just an act. That it actually is ridiculous, immature and not to be taken seriously. Goofing around. And of course, you really notice Borland is back, so are the little interludes. Compared to Korn's try to ape their origins with their unsorted noise collection Korn III: Remember Who You Are, this one clearly wins (only given Nu Metal never made you feel like you're orally being assraped like it's Tuesday afternoon).

Man, I havent listened to Limp Bizkit since probably 8th grade.  I cant believe they're making music again.

On an acidic note, I am glad someone properly connected the dots between Limp Bizkit and the Fast And Furious movies. I mean, c'mon, guys.

Between Durst hopping around in shants, Wes Borland done up in ridiculous make-up like he's in a European death metal band, and the two of them together writing lyrics like "Gimme summin' to break", was this band ever in danger of being taken seriously?

Limp Bizkit always felt schizophrenic and desperate to appeal to every single lowest common denominator simultaneously. And I blame them partially for the advent of Juggalos.

If memory serves, one of their countless sound alike songs was used in the trailer for the original Fast & Furious. Ten freaking years ago.

I will most certainly never listen to this album, but holy shit it's hilarious that they are still making music at all. I can thank Fred Durst for the free laugh I guess.

I like how the only song of their's I like is a cover. And it's of a really gay song too, George Michael's Faith.
Also, unless by some fluke they change the face of music as we know it, I'll just pretend it doesn't exist.

I knew a girl back in '99 who had a tramp stamp that said "Limp." Wonder how she feels about that now.

Yeah im in the same boat as you. Absolutely hilarious they are still making music, and I will never be listening to it...no matter how good or bad it might be! I did find my cd of Significant Other in my CD case from high school yesterday and listened to it for the first time since then.
