Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 8

"How you gonna fuck bitches in a twin bed?"

Oh God the look Funkhouser shot at Larry after he suggested his wife go to London.

It's back!?  YES!

Thanks for the heads-up, Molti.

I loved the obsession with the Jew lawyer, and the fact that Berg was really a Swede, lol.

The whole Dodgers thing was hilarious, especially if you live in LA and have been following that trainwreck.

And better than the "how you gonna fuck bitches in a twin bed" line...

"You ran that ass into the ground..." ha haa.

J.B. Smoove as Leon is the awesome. Starting with the fact that dude's name is "J.B. Smoove".

I just love that he's basically a squatter in Larry's house, and Larry totally accepts it.

Leon is aces, no doubt about it. But I'm really hoping that this season allows the Funk Man to step up. He's my favorite out of Larry's posse. Einstein always does a masterful job of making me laugh without saying a word.

I was coming in here to pretty much say the same thing. Funkhouser is never not hilarious. And his defense of his wife against Leon's comments was just as funny as, well, Leon's comments.

Loved Susie's divorce-tirade, and the slow panover, revealing that there were other people around the table forced to listen to her psychotic rant. Essman is easily one of the best cussers ever.

"Why don't you just get a divorce?"

"... I'm too lazy..."

I'm either an uninformed late-comer or bearer of interesting trivia: I just recently found out that Bob "Marty Funkhouser" Einstein is the brother of Albert Brooks.

He'll always be Super Dave to me.

My favorite part was the dead-eyed stare he gave Larry for the entire lunch after Larry suggested his wife accompany him. Even in the background of one shot he was still trying to stare Larry to death.

For me, it was the tampon scene.. As a big fan of CURB, sitting in a room filled with non-CURB fans, hearing the awkward scattered giggles from around the room, which soon turned into people bursting into laughter as Larry figures the tampon out for himself... classic situation of Larry trying to do the 'right" thing for one person, only to piss off ten other people in the process.

Same here.

I about died when he said "I spent Hannukah at his house" when talking about the lawyer. And the death stare...so damned good.

Einstein's face-lift job is uber distracting.  Loved the tampon explanation scene.

"Have you set aside a day when you're actually going to look at her face?" is one of the funniest lines in the show's history. I had to pause it until I could get my laughing under control.

"How 'bout the marm, huh? How 'bout this marm?"

Ached during that whole scene at the "shelter."

Richard Lewis' face when he sees the 4 guys leaving the show made me bust out.

That and the shot of Larry's hands inching towards the Chubby Hubby in the background.

Michaela Watkins knocked what could've been a truly irritating character out of the park. Still scratching my head over Lorne Michaels' assessment that she was "too talented" for SNL. Would rather see her than endless Gilly sketches.

I could watch a full episode of just Larry & Michaela Watkins' exchange: "Inspirational speaker? What hell is she talkin' about?".

That scene was hilarious.

Also, loved Larry's scene with Curtis Armstrong.

I think Louie is the better comedy airing right now, but this one makes me chuckle more consistently long after i watch it.

“I commend you on the demographics - a black, an Asian, and…are you a Jew?”

Most plot elements in this show are engineered to push Larry into an awkward apology, but the safe house plot was implausible even for CYE.

He was on Conan last night and made light of the work he's had done, he also dusted off his "sink" joke that he did for Seinfeld on Curb:

"If Rabin can break bread with Arafat, I can have chicken at this anti-semitic shithole."

The whole Israeli–Palestinian conflict has been worth it for this episode.

Thought Larry had to give up his house?

They filmed some episodes in NY, so I'm sure the house is going...

That was some damn funny stuff. LOL

"Which reminds me of something Theodor Herzl once said..."

Did my eyes deceive me, or was that Rebecca "Frequently Naked on HBO" Creskoff in that promo for next week?

At the moment, my favorite show on right now is Parks & Recreation.  After nearly a decade of cynical comedies that have come and gone, it's like a breath of sweet air.

THAT SAID... I still need my usual dose of misanthropy.  And this show still delivers that for me.  Just seeing Larry David ramble on makes me laugh.

SON OF NAT.

Don't have HBO anymore, but caugt up on the past three eps tonight at a friend's house. God, I miss this show. Larry with a tampon shoved up his nose is probably one of the funniest sight gags I've seen in some time. Larry being used as a social assassin is just brilliant. I can't believe his friend's hadn't thought of using him for that before. "The penis doesn't care about race or religion! The penis wants to go to the homeland!"

Didn't find this one all that funny.  The stuff with Harry Hamlin kinda brought it down.

Yeah, this was a rare stinker. Between Hamlin & Antoinette, the whole affair was kind of a drag.

Needed more Leon!

How was it bad though?  I found it enjoyable on the same level as recent LOUIE.  I'll go rewatch it but I'm pretty sure you're all wrong!

The CYE ep had painfully predictable joke set-up with too little pay-off. That "Dog"'s comeuppance never came or was resolved by any of the other story threads was kinda sub-par by the show's usual standards.

Still, Jo Ann Worley!

The ep was ok, but did bring not the usual hilarity. My favorite scenes are when groups of people gang up on Larry, so having the subdued scene with the doc confronting Larry on the side of the road or the passive aggressive way the girlfriend got back at Larry was no fun. Usually Susie can save an ep for me, but she showed up too little and too late.

There has been a shocking lack of Leon in the last couple of episodes.

And wasn't this season supposed to be in New York?

I am so happy that Suzie and Jeff are gonna be in NY. Their dynamic with Larry is awesome. It'll be a shame if Leon, Funkhauser, and other faves don't make appearances.

"Encroachment" into banal observations about shoelaces. Larry has got mad flirting skills.

Also, next week sees the triumphant return of Leon. FUCK YES

It takes a shoelace trip for Larry to physically intervene when a white man is harassing a woman, but he will wail on a minority with bread with gusto in a similar situation.  Hahahahahah

Instead of ending the episode at another embarrassing moment for Larry, I would've loved this one to have ended with him winking at the camera as the subway door closed.

Yeah letting Larry have his "moment" would have been good. But as is the final scene was gold.

Also loved Gervais showing up to the party with a signed copy of his DVD.

Is it just me or have there many a lot of Ennio Morricone tunes in Curb recently?

Please tell me im not the only one whos noticed this.

Moreso than usual?  The show has always used Morricone's music pretty frequently.

Weird, I have never noticed that. And im supposed to be a really big Morricone fan.

Shame on me. :(

Nice to see Samantha Mathis again. Pump up the Volume fans, can I get a witness?

I could be wrong.  The show uses a lot of various pieces from different Italian composers, and when I think of Italian composers I imagine that they're all named Ennio Morricone.

Holla! She gave me my all-time favorite Unexpected Nude Scene in that movie.

That's who she was? i didn't recognize her.

I love the gang in NY. It is so much fun spotting all the locales. And for me, Suzie and Larry getting into it is always a blast.

Mathis also guested in an episode of Lost (season 2, I think) as a Dharma teacher!

I remember that. The kids had to hide under their desk because Smokey was running rampant (or was it the Hostiles?).
