UH OH, THE DWARVES ARE GETTING HOTTER

Are certain stories not getting auto-added to the forum? I'd much rather banter with Chewers here than with...them, out there.

Are we absolutely certain that this is not a photo of a hot dwarf woman!?

On the one hand they really don't look like dwarves as Tolkien described them. I remember them tucking their beards in their belts.

On the other hand if they all looked as Tolkien described them they would all look almost exactly alike, and that would make for a boring-ass movie (not a boring ass-movie, more like a hairy ass-movie...but I digress). So in the end I have to say I really like the looks of the dwarves as revealed so far. I'm a pretty huge Tolkein fan (I try to reread the books every few years) and I completely understand the need to diverge from canon in order to adapt the stories to film.

This month's Empire set visits mentions dwarf wedgies and a "snot gun". I don't think this is going to be the film for those of you who found Gimli irritating in the original trilogy.

That one dude looks like he's trying to play a dwarf who's trying to play Mac from It's Always Sunny... who's trying to pull off Aragorn on Halloween.

Approaching this a 'men on a mission film', which to me means "grizzled soldiers", I can never fucking tell who is who until about the last five minutes. The individual styles will certainly aid in keeping track of the dwarves, at least visually.

A more playful style seems fitting for the material.
