41. Pineapple Express

Great action/comedy hybrid that hits all the right action beats and all the right comedy beats; weird and hilarious performance from Franco; fantastic supporting cast, especially McBride.  Not just one of my favorite comedies of the 2000s, but one of my favorites overall.

42. SCHOOL OF ROCK

43. Team America: World Police

I don't think I have laughed so hard at the movies.  The Michael Bay song was pure genius.

Quote:

"I was just a boy when the infidels came to my village in their Blackhawk helicopters. The infidels fired at the oil fields and they lit up like the eyes of Allah. Burning oil rained down from the sky and cooked everything it touched. I could only hide myself and cry as my goats were consumed by the fiery black liquid death. In the midst of the chaos, I could swear that I heard my goats screaming for help. As quickly as they had come, the infidels were gone. It was on that day I put a jihad on them. And if you don't believe it, then you'd better kill me now, because I'll put a jihad on you, too."

Quote:
"Let me explain to you how this works: you see, the corporations finance Team America, and then Team America goes out... and the corporations sit there in their... in their corporation buildings, and... and, and see, they're all corporation-y... and they make money."

So help me, I will hold it against all of you if Orphan is nixed!!!!

Nah, it's cool.  Someone can replace 25 if they wish.

Actually, I had a discussion with some friends about what my favorite comedy was.  And I realized, I didn't really have any.  Of course, I love classics like Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters.  But I find that I don't really laugh all that much at many comedies.  I tend to get my laughs from things that wouldn't necessarily be pegged as funny.

You can replace it with what might be THE "unintential comedy of the decade", The Room.

NOW LET'S MELT SOME FACES!!!!

Alright then...

45.  Shaolin Soccer

Pure zaniness mixed with a the underdog sports movie.  Wildly random humor, cool action, and oodles of visual gags.  Don't try to stop Stephen Chow from helping himself to some new shoes.  He'll bitch-slap you.

Another borderline, but I'll go to the mat for it being a "comedy."

49) 5194874RB9L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

So much more than a stoner buddy movie. It's also cleverly about race in America. But it's also really freaking funny. Christopher Meloni's Freakshow(And Meloni wrote Freakshow's song!), the hospital scene, Kumar's pot dream, inspiring that one guy to burn down the fast food joint he works at because it's not as good as White Castle, and, of course, NPH. I died laughing when their car drove by and you see NPH doing coke off the stomachs of prostitutes. For such a simple premise, it's endlessly creative and smart.

To round out the Top 50, I submit a film that actually belongs in the Top 10. Not strictly a comedy but it's 2 hours of pure joy, nonetheless.

51. STEP BROTHERS

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly make a great comedy team. Adam Scott was great as Ferrell's a-hole brother, but the MVP of the movie is Richard Jenkins.

I love Orange County. When we first watched it, my friends and I went around saying "[insert name here], you're my same height. That is neat" all summer.

54. The Incredible

Pixar has had a lot of great films this decade, and though you could argue that others are better, "The Incredibles" is certainly the funniest. It's packed with hilarious little moments, and the scenes with Edna never fail to crack me up. Also, "Woman! Where's my super suit?!?"

55. A Serious Man

This one qualifies for one of the funniest movies of all time. Seriously. That's how much I love it!

GabeT, thank you very much (thanky'vermuuch) for clarifying the rules. Having said that...

56. bubbaho-tep.jpgbubbaho-tep2.jpg

"Even a big bitch cockroach like you should know...never, but never fuck with The King."

"Bubba Ho-Tep" gave Bruce Campbell his best movie role since "Army of Darkness" and made sure he was in at least one brilliant movie in the 2000s. Funny, weird, and surprisingly heartfelt. I genuinely felt sad for Elvis as Campbell's superb narration described the man's regrets and disappointments. Ozzie Davis was a hoot as "JFK" and the banter between he and Elvis was lovely. Has one of the most satisfying last lines I've ever heard in a movie. It was such a relief...I felt like I'd been waiting the whole movie for it (even though it had been said earlier).

57. ADAPTATION (2002) d. Spike Jonze

Brilliantly bananas. Nic Cage is hilarious, and Charlie Kaufman is a genius. Forget about comedies, one of the best films of the 2000's.

Kudos to John Matrix for taking one of my picks, Step Brothers.  It's an awesome movie that I think has suffered a bit at the hands of the fanboys' Will Ferrell backlash.

I'll add:

58.  Hot Rod (2007) d. Akiva Schaffer

I love this movie.  Having abandoned SNL in the early part of the decade, my only real knowledge of Andy Samberg came from "Lazy Sunday".  This actually made me think that the guy was a talent worth paying attention to.  From Rod's ongoing battles with his stepfather to his pronunciation of "whiskey", an awesomely batshit and goofy film.  As an added bonus, the supporting cast--Ian McShane, Ilsa Fisher, Jorma Taccone, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, etc.--just seem like they're having a blast here.

Also, punchdancing.

60. (Wes Anderson, 2009)

Fantastic Mr. Fox.jpg

A fantastic cussing film. The voice cast is pitch perfect. Anderson's live action aesthetic translated well to stop motion.

61. Gran Torino

The theater I saw it in was roaring with laughter. You can't beat Eastwood's delivery when it comes to racism. The whole film consists of "did he really just say that?" moments which makes great comedy.

62. The Other Guys

Much like McKay/Ferrell's Step Brothers, this one's a grower, and only gets better each time I see it. Deserves placement for the fate of Samuel Jackson and The Rock's characters alone.

63. Kung Fu Hustle (Stephen Chow, 2004)

Also, count me in on the love for Hot Rod as well. Great quotability on that one.

Come on, you know you laughed your way though it. I really think Eastwood intentionally chose the worst script he could find just to see what it could become. The main character is icing on the cake, It's Eastwood parodying the Eastwood persona.

If nothing else we need an honorable mention category where these fringe movies can live peacefully.

Gran Torino should be removed.

Fucking Waiting should be removed. I know comedy is subjective, but come on. That's just a giant pile of shit that thinks its a movie.

Anyway:

65. The Woman Chaser (2000)

Possibly the most under-seen masterpiece of the whole decade. Great pitch-black pulp comedy based on Charles Willifords novel, staring Patrick "Puddy, The Tick, Borck Samson" Walburhton in what is, far and away, his greatest role.

[SCOLDING] A thread like this is way more interesting if posters provide some explanation for why a given film is chosen.  While we might all (debatably) agree that Fantastic Mr. Fox or Elf deserve a place here, simply tossing up their posters doesn't really add anything to the conversation.  Let's try to avoid boring "list" threads, folks. [/SCOLDING]

I agree with Mattioli...

66. Zoolander-ben-stiller-170568_1024_768.jpg

This is not as smart as "Tropic Thunder". The fashion industry is a much smaller and easier target than the movie and music business, but this movie proves again and again that sometimes the most silly and obvious humour is the most effective. So many stupid, stupid moments that are endlessly amusing to me:

1) David Duchovny's character easily convincing Stiller's Zoolander that male models don't think for themselves

2) Stiller dressed like a monkey with cymbals

3) Audiences being enthralled by Zoolander's extremely silly facial expressions (as a furious Will Ferrell is the only one who can see through him)

4) Jerry Stiller struggling to pee while Ferrell listens in disgust over the phone

5) Zoolander's reaction to the model of his school

and 6) The gasoline fight

As a comedy, ZOOLANDER utterly lays waste to TROPIC THUNDER.

Alright, as a substitute to Gran Torino I would like to put in

61. My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Before all the hype and the failed sitcom there was this solid little movie created by a then unknown Comedian. The Jokes work and it probably belongs in the top ten of the decade's romantic comedies. It's really too bad that Nia Vardalos gave up on the stage after this, because I think if she kept fleshing out more stories infront of a live audience like she did with Greek Wedding more of her films could have been good.
