YOU cast and produce: "Vampire Hunter D" the live-action movie

In classic geek tradition, I'd like to start a series of threads where you, our lovely message board visitor, have to cast and assign various talent to an imaginary movie idea we assign . This series of threads can range from anime films getting a live action treatment (such as this one), to remakes, to books that are in dire need of a film adaptation, to horror comics.

Something fun to get your brain cells jump started without having to use re-agent every 6 hours. Plus it'd be interesting to see what kind of answers everyone comes up with.

So, you're in charge of gathering a team of fine talent for Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - The Live Action Movie .

<img src="http://www.rightstuf.com/images/large_images/uv1093.jpg" alt="" />

Here are some casting and crew choices I've made:

Crew:

Director - Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf")

Make-up FX - Screaming Mad George

Cast:

Borgoff (the large bounty hunter): Vin Diesel
Kyle (the red-haired bounty hunter): Jason Fleming
Grove (bounty hunter leader): Mark Dacascos

There was also that limber, green demon chick, don't know her name but I'd cast: Monica Belluci (natch)

That's all I can whip up right now, let's see what kind of creative talent you can bring to the project! Remember, the choices above are my personal preferences so if you want to see a different director tackle the project, speak your mind.

Please keep your choices based on talent existing today - not vintage Hollywood. I don't want to see someone casting Joseph Cotton or Richard Widmark as Vampire Hunter D or anything whacky like that. If you have suggestions for future threads, Private Message me.

Cool idea. I have this but haven't watched it yet. I'll watch it this weekend along with the first 2 dvd's in the Devil Lady anime series. For another thread how about a Bloodrayne movie. That game is awesome and I've already been thinking about the cast for it.

As much as I love Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust I would rather just keep it as an anime and not make it a live action movie.

Okay, look, before the point of this is taken out of context: throw your morals out the window and have a blast. No debate about whether the idea of such a film would exist in the near future - just go with it. If ya don't, no big deal. Don't post.

Luke Goss would make a pretty sweet "D".

Only seen this once, and don't own it. So not much input, but I eagerly await the chance to jump on any future posts like this.

I will add this.... Roger Daltry as Dracula. he actually did pretty well with it, and would fit this version.

Are we talking about Bloodlust, or the original? Or something entirely new?

Hm, since there are now about 20 (!!!) Vampire Hunter D novels (by Hideyuki Kikuchi) out in Japan and only the 1st and the 3rd have been filmed, I don't think they should remake one of the animes but just film another novel!

As for directors, I could really get behind a Christophe Gans version, which was mentioned above.

Marc Dacascos would make a great D. Or maybe Jude Law.

BTW: The author of the original novels stated in an interview that he got the idea for Vampire Hunter D when he watched some old Bryan Adams video back in the early 80ies!!! It had Bryan walking against a sunset. So maybe ... they should cast BRYAN ADAMS as D???

For fuck sakes, the movies not getting made, its just about who you would cast if you could make it. Its called fun...

Anyways...

Danny DeVito would be pretty cool as that little guy that controlled all the monsters. On another note, DJ Qualls would be pretty solid as that skinny guy that could become a ghost and shoot lasers and stuff.

As I mentioned in my first post, you're casting "Bloodlust." This thread is getting harder than I thought. wink

The first movie was so bland and unmemorable (im not saying it was crap, but it was wayyyyyyy too bland and i barely recall a memorable moment) i hope they NEVER make a live version. It put me off the words and anything associated with Vampire Hunter D for life.
Never come back to this forum again!

=)

PEACE OUT!
