A ton of cameos to bolster the film's credibility.

Gunnar Hansen is such a weirdo.

I think you need to replace "remakes" with "sequels" in the sentence about Jim Siedow. Moseley's a pretty great choice for his replacement, actually.

I feel like this series is ripe for a Franchise Me! installment at this point.

Of course this is all pandering fan-service that has no bearing on the quality of the project, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me a little more interested.

The ratio of the franchise isn't bad: you have the classic, the sequel with the great Hopper, Moseley and crazy chainsaw duel, the fourth with the batshit crazy performance of Matthew McConaughey, the better-than-expected remake and a pointless prequel lead by a saluting R Lee Ermy. Only the third sucks. The only good aspect about the third is the amazing Excalibur teaser trailer.

Now as for the new one? Having Moseley is a win, but we might still end up with a useless, gimmicky 3D rehash. Something like The Final Destination.

edited to add: of course it's generally to question whether we actually need a seventh Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

That's like word for word how I ended an article about this that didn't go up. It's a canny move to get horror nerds out of their slumber. And Mosely does a killer Jim Siedow impression, so that's actually a sweet casting move.

I've never seen Mosely's Siedow impression but I can't see anybody else doing justice to "SMALL BUSINESSMAN ALWAYS GETS IT IN THE ASS!" (with the possible exception of Joe the Plumber)

I'll take the third one with Viggo Mortensen and Ken Foree over the absolutely awful fourth entry any day of the week.  That said, it still isn't a good movie by any stretch.  Hooper's two are great, the 2003 remake was great, and its prequel was decent.  Hopefully this one will turn out alright, since it is basically Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5.
