One of my favorites. Excellent stuff. You're dead-on with this being the performance of Ford's career.

Cool to see you writing for the main page. I've been absent for a bit and didn't know.

THE MOSQUITO COAST is a fascinating film that deserves much more credit than it gets.

I really love the shot(part of it is in the trailer you posted) where Fox steps up in the foreground to greet the preacher and it's framed like a western showdown, but instead of a six-shooter, Ford has his hammer in his toolbelt.

Weir deserves more credit for this film, and for that matter, his entire body of work. The guy is seriously underrated.

Great, great film and easily Ford's best work.

You never really think of Harrison Ford as the actor you would re-watch a film for just to see his performance, but here it is true. And I can't speak for the book but I wholly agree that making Allie sympathetic was a necessary choice. I can't imagine how the story would work if the initial lure of what they(well, Allie really) were after didn't translate, to some degree at least, to the audience.

And "...double-digit inflation and a two-dollar loaf of bread!" has entered my personal lexicon as the go-to quip when getting interrupted by a loud noise.

Ford needs to work with Weir again.
