It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...Season 7 - Page 2

My favorite thing about Fat Mac is that it hasn't really been used as a major storyline. It gets mentioned, and they make fun of him for it, but it's usually just in throwaway bits. Rob McElhenney basically put his health at risk for a running sight gag.

Any time the gang sings and dances, it is comedic gold. Seriously, that was some funny stuff!

Frank and the mortician, holy crap. Also the lyrics to Franks we don't bang kids song.

So much good stuff.
This ep would make a good double feature w/ The Nightman Cometh.

Frank's mortician make-over had me laughing so hard.  That, and the boy's pagent performance was amazing.  I also loved the end where they just randomly pick a winner based on who they think is the prettiest.

The mortician, Frank's makeup, and Dee's passion for child pagentry cracked me up. Apparently the gang doesn't curse in front of really small kids. I kept expecting Dee to drop a word on the kids while practicing their entry dance. She only unloads on the obviously older child.

Also, the broken nose that played a decently large part of the first two acts. In lesser comedies, that would have been a one shot joke, but Always keeps things around.
Not a terribly memorable episode. Frank giving song lyric suggestions killed me, though.

100% agree. I actually just opened this thread in my browser to write the same thing but I am glad you did it for me!

I love the little throw away gags like Mac eating pizza and wheezing. My favorite Fat Mac moment is in the first episode this season. While Mac, Dee and Dennis are at the hookers apartment, Dee and Dennis are talking and the whole time Mac is just staring at his chimichanga and poking at it with his finger. Then he looks up, devastated, and mentions he got salsa on his shirt.

Great episode. Dee's eyes bleeding killed me.

This may be sacrilege, but I've found the early eps of Sunny's season to be about 10x funnier than Community's initial S3 episodes. Granted, the only thing they have in common is that they both air on Thursday, but Sunny has had a fantastic season so far.

Rubbing my own face in dogshit would be a more enjoyable experience than Community's initial S3 episodes. It's the lowest ranked of the comedies I'm watching this season.

But I don't want to post negativity in the Community thread for fear of the rabid fanboys pulling my limbs off.

Nah, it's hyperbole perfectly suited for Chang. :)

They're really hitting the gross-out gags pretty hard this year. It's worked for them so far (Who doesn't enjoy watching Charlie vomit blood, or two homeless guys butt-fucking under the boardwalk?), but I hope they don't drive it into the ground. It would be a shame for this show to turn into low-grade Farrelly brothers schtick.

Don't you mean you should Chang your avatar?

I would agree with this.

this past episode was just as good as any so far. Loved the Pickle Party and how easily Dennis was able to make them fight.

Hated the lime/pickle element of the episode.  The writing didn't do jackshit for me.  Dee's eyes bleeding was golden though. And the dog carcass?  Predictable but hilarious.  Any bets they don't touch the Dee story any more?

Holy shit this show is depraved, but I love it. The meta-commentary on American politics with Charlie and Mac starting their own Pickle Party because they were too stupid to make coherent arguments was just genius. As was Dennis' ploy of distracting the guys by having them squabble over meaningless issues.

Fixed. (Or Dalyn did that already. Doh!)

I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of tonight's episode.  I had a hard time getting through it - just kinda meh.

This seemed like one of those episodes where everyone in the cast was busy doing other projects except Danny Devitio.

I hate to be that guy, but...

Worst. Episode. Ever.

Kind of an off episode, yeah, but the presence of Lance Reddick and Frank's Colombian coke montage kept it from being a total misfire for me.

Swing and a miss.

Defenatly the worst of the season. But it did have it's moments.

Worst episode ever...not even close.

such an odd episode.

you're still as beautiful as ever!

Meh. I applaud the effort, Lance Reddick, & "teen" Frank but everything else was really, really weak. Also, Jon Polito looked worryingly poor.

Yeah, this was bad but not terrible. My vote for worst ever goes to Who Pooped The Bed.

Nearly any flashback episode sucks.  Who Pooped the Bed and The Gang Cracked the Liberty Bell are by far the worst in the series for me.  This ranks right up there.

The Liberty Bell episode is far and away the worst. I actually kind liked "who pooped the bed."

Yup, "The Liberty Bell" is unwatchable.

But "Who Pooped The Bed?" is great. Sex & The City, "I've got a bleached asshole!", Artemis' JFK monologue, Dee's resigned "I hate my life" at the end. Tons of great moments.

This ep was worth it for the coke montage. Can someone post a still of Frank when he flashes red? I was dying.

Those are two of my favorite episodes! I'm laughing just thinking about Artemis giving her analysis of what happened in the poop ep.

I'm going to have to go against the grain here and say that I quite enjoyed "The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell" episode...it's not the worst by a long shot.

I was sort of bothered by the over use of "Dave & Buster's" in " the great recession" episode, but then Charlie redeemed it.....

“We’re crab people now! We’ll live and die by the crab, we’ll eat off the fat of the sea.”

post season two, liberty bell is definitely the worst ever

Agreed with you, friendo. Side-lining most of the gang just nudges this one above the rest in my "worst ever" scale.

I actually stopped watching the Liberty Bell episode.  It's the only episode I think I've even skipped, because it was so bad.  I really liked the Recession episode too.  I enjoyed the Dennis and Mac banter,

Mac: "And then we'll try to use the Power Card at the Friday's..."

Dennis: "We're way past that!"

Last episode wasn't great, but Frank as a 19 year old was hilarious.  Pretty much anything Frank does is awesome.

Frank was indeed awesome, and i thought they did a good job of giving the flashbacks that 70'sploitation feel

I loved the groups muted reaction to the way Frank says "those were the days!"

"mmmmm.... okay...."

Never gets less funny.

I am just glad this show exists, every character is just so foul.  FX, HBO, AMC.....without these networks I doubt I would much anything but sports and movies. (you cant watch news anymore because they dont have actual news programs)

3nnui, you couldn't have said it any better.  If I have to hear about another co-worker telling me how funny "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" was last night, I think I'll cut off my own balls.  I feel bad that people are missing out on fantastic shows based on cable and premium cable.  The only shows on network TV I can stomach are Modern Family and Parks and Recreation.  I know Community, The Office, and 30 Rock are tolerable, but they don't really do anything for me anymore.  Give me Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Wire, Always Sunny, Louie, Curb, Bored to Death, etc etc.  I haven't even seen an episode of Breaking Bad yet.  I know, I know.  What am I doing?

And I don't even watch Mad Men, but I watched the first season so I know why it's so highly regarded.  I just don't have time for all these shows in my life, so why would I waste my time with garbage like Two and a Half Men.  I can't believe that show exists/has existed.  I watched it on a airplane once and stared at the screen squinting trying to understand where the humor was in the jokes.  Cookie cutter sitcome nonsense.  Ugh.

Sorry for the rant, but come on...ridiculous.

The gang was back on the ball tonight, amazing episode. Charlie in his bunker gear just killed me! Plus we haven't seen Dennis get that flustered since the Ponderosa incident, he's always funniest when he's insecure.

"Storm comin'? HATCHET COMIN'!!"

Also, Dee name-checking Robopocalypse.

I enjoyed Cricket's gunshot wound and the return of Dark Dennis but overall the show just didn't do much for me. I couldn't finish the previous episode with Frank's brother. It wasn't particularly awful but I just wasn't into it. The premiere remains the highmark for me this season.

This latest ep towers head-and-shoulders over last week's -- as awesome as Jon Polito is, even he couldn't save that one all by himself. This one was streets ahead.

Loved Charlie's continuing obliviousness to Dennis's whole "bunker-slut contract" concept.

(Also, if they're gonna keep on using Cricket as a recurring symbolic victim of the gang's wanton selfishness, he has to be an amputee the next time he shows up.)

Fantastic episode. Although I really thought they were gonna go with a zombie type thing with cricket after the reporter said they needed another crisis right before he crashed.

Also loved the picture of Frank looting skies in LA.

Dee nailed the hysteria surrounding these types of storms. KILL THE MACHINES!!! KILL THE MACHINES!!!  And yeah, nervous Dennis was all sorts of awesome. I was dying when he was stalking the reporter in the background while she was doing her news report.

oh shit.....this could be epic

Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games

What's The Gang to do on a rainy day but play the most twisted (and self-made) board game ever. Dee and Dennis square off against Mac, Charlie and Frank in this battle of wits, wild cards and wine

"You have to eat the ingredients of a cake"

Awesome...

FYI

I mentioned this over in the SoA thread...thought I would mention it in this one as well seeing as Sunny is also on FX.....and I'll be seriously pissed off if DirectTV fucks with my weekly dose of Sunny...especially mid-season.

Maybe what happened with Netflix will kick some sense into Dtv.....

Despite Fox Networks’ offer of an extension during our ongoing negotiations, DirecTV has informed us and their customers that unless we agree to their demands, they “will suspend our networks on November 1.”

DirecTV sent us a proposal on Tuesday afternoon. They have given us no chance to respond before taking an unnecessarily aggressive posture and going public. It is disappointing that they have chosen bad faith tactics over meaningful negotiation.

DirecTV says Fox Networks wants a 40% increase. That’s just not true. We have proposed to keep Fox Networks on DirecTV for the same price, and on the same terms as they are currently carried while we attempt to work out a fair agreement. Unfortunately, DirecTV has decided unless they get their way, they are going to pull your favorite networks, shows and sports programming.

Starting on November 1, DirecTV will no longer carry FX, FSN, SPEED, National Geographic Channel, FOX Soccer, FOX Soccer Plus, FOX Deportes, FUEL TV and Fox Movie Channel.

Solid episode, loved the game.  Dennis blowing it by pouring the "beer" on Frank was classic.
