Bane wears a wool coat in the middle of summer!

Yeah... I don't get it. The costume thing.

Where are they that this particular camo for the Tumbler is necessary? It looks cool, though.

looks to be a slightly beefier tumbler design (slightly more offensive than just a bridge jumper?)

interesting

some models of the first one for comp.

I think it's just that black is more slimming.

Middle of winter in the movie.

The passenger side is completely different.  I was initially disappointed that they were bringing the Tumbler back, since blowing it up in TDK would've seemed like the perfect excuse to have Lucius design a more classic batmobile, but now I'm intrigued about what's going with it.

Hardy looks like he's wearing panties on his head.

Well, we know that the tumbler was presented to the military, so it doesn't seem that surprising that such plans could have leaked to others allowing Bane and the League of Assassins to buy or build their own.

I don't get the complaints on the costume. What did you expect?

Also that guy Mr Reese had some designs.

Oh and good on Nolan not changing the batmobile just cause it sold more toys.

Something without a wooly lining. Is that too much to expect?

I have no problem with the mask. That doesn't look like a pair of panties I'd ever want to meet.

I got kind of a bald Sabretooth vibe.

I don't get everyone saying he looks like he has panties on his head.  The mask he is wearing perfectly evokes the luchador mask from the comics.  I have no emotional investment in Bane as a character like it seems most people do so regardless of the look it is still meh for me.  TDK was overhyped because of Ledger's death.

I think I'm the only one saying this. I don't care about the source material since the luchador mask is dumb. But yeah panties on the head...

Why the fuck are people complaining about the jacket? It looks fine. As a matter of fact, some bits of info floating around suggests that instead of being from a fictional South American country, this version of the character is *possibly* Russian or has at least spent several years in a Siberian gulag of some sort. That's where my mind went almost immediately upon seeing these pictures.

The hype was on its way to critical mass when that second trailer hit, over a month before Ledger's death. Was his death a factor in the film's success? Yeah, sure, I believe even Nolan sort of subtly eluded to this in an interview, but people need to stop getting all red-assed about it as if it was the only factor.

What the hell is on Banes mouth?  Looks like a strange contraption.  I'm guessing that's where the venom is introduced, but why?  A little weird it wouldn't be pumped directly into the veins, and I know this comes across as nerdy complaint.  More of an inquiry, not a complaint, because I do like how it looks.

And I actually think Bane looks fairly cool.  These kinds of things are tough to judge from some random cell phone pics, but it looks like something that will probably look cool in film.

Exactly, no need to get our (head)panties in a bunch.

It gave TDK more marketing and exposure, but I don't think it was a huge factor, or the one of the main reasons it was a huge hit.

TDK had ridiculously good WOM and it was genuinely a crowd pleaser.  People seriously loved the film.

The intarwebz are awash with people complaining about panties on his head.  Every site I have seen these pics at several people have said it.

That's the internet for you. Remember, Titanic only made that much because of teenage girls, Avatar only made that much because of 3-D, and Gone with the Wind only made that much because everybody was racist at the time.

Comic book fans are so weird, man. If anyone thinks any of the fan made concept art that was floating around is even the slightest bit better than what we've got here, then I don't know what to say. Whatever, it's fine. I don't know if the film will be worth a damn or not, but I'll allow the internet to get the bitching and moaning out of its system based on the (in this case), 80% chance that the finished product will eventually serve the internet a nice cup of shut the fuck up.

It would be awesome if Bane actually wore panties on his head.

This post couldn't be a more perfect confluence of poster and subject matter if it tried.

(Kidding, Gabe...LOVE YOU!)

Anyway, these pics are fine.  Hardy is great.  Hope the movie is worth all the hype.  That's about all I've got.

I want to know what kind of girl wears panties like those. And I want to marry that girl.

As I said in the pre-release thread, Bane is kind of inherently ridiculous looking. I'm actually impressed they've managed to ground the look of the character whilst keeping him recognisable. Hardy is amazing, so I have literally no doubts about his performance. I'm actually a person who doesn't like elements of Begins and found The Dark Knight oddly unsatisfying and yet I see to be more positive and excited for this than people who were gaga over the previous Nolan films.

At least he isn't green and grunting like his steller appearance in Batman and Robin.

Yeah, but that Bane was a sex machine apparently.

I'd say there's more of a 90%, this is exactly what will happen. Before actual footage of Ledger's performance came out, the internet was flooded with people complaining that Ledger was wrong for the role, and that he looked like The Crow. Nolan's a fantastic director who surrounds himself with the finest talent.

But, it's kind of fun to make panty head jokes beforehand.

I actually don't mind the look, but that coat is humongous! Does Venom work on jackets too?

There's probably enough room for a COOLING SYSTEM to be built in it for Hardy.

I like Hardy and I've never hated Bane, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we get.

Bane is in Batman & Robin!?

Holy shit, I must never have seen that movie...

And wow, a picture of Uma back when she had boobs and an ass...I miss that Uma.

Like the coat, and don't mind the crotchless panties on Hardy's head.

I was wondering about that too. The idle speculation that followed led me to the hypothesis that they could base Venom on a derivation of the blue flower that was in the first film and which was the basis for the Fear toxin and which was used in the League's attempt to induct Bruce. Are there any real world analogues for hallucogens and stimulants to be derived from the same chemical base? If they did that it would tie into the first film as I understand they've said they would and could superficially justify inhalation as the means of delivery.

Although (and yes, this really is thinking about too hard) it wouldn't be a very efficient aid if you needed continual input for the effects to be noticeable and consistent, never mind that having external apparatus would also put it within reach of an opponent, something that wouldn't be a problem with an injected drug.

Hope they're planning some camera trickery to make Bane look bigger than Bats, because Bale looks taller than Hardy in those pics.

Actually, you can tell Hardy is standing on an apple box or something when they are fighting, so yeah, camera trickery.

Batman in daylight?  Gah!

That new picture that Brenner just edited into his post that show's Bane's back looks as if there's a HUGE scar going down from the back of his head. Could there actually have been some surgical going on in regard to the venom after all?

Man, superhero movie pirate set pics sure do make everything look goofy, don't they?

You stare at any of this stuff long enough and it all becomes "it's not the dress that makes you look fat, but the fat that makes you look fat". I like the idea of Batman fighting in the daylight; mandatory overtime to the rest of us schlubs. Also, that second picture is a "Come at me bro..." meme waiting to happen.

If Hardy is sweating, imagine Bale in that rubber Batman outfit? I bet the pissed off look on his face in those pictures is not acting.

Well, it's winter right? Throw a few filters on that and Bats will look just fine.

I've only read the 'must reads' (DKR, Killing Joke, Arkham) so know nothing of Bane really, but the vibe I get from this is Bat's fight with the gangleader in TDKR.  Tries to fight him as a 'young man' and gets his ass handed to him on a plate, then plays to his strengths (i.e. intelligence) later on and takes over the gang.

While I can see that this will be nothing like that I can imagine how he could get owned in his first few encounters as he tries to match Bane's aggression etc and it's his coming back to who he is that he finally defeats him (if he does).

Harks back to that 'when fighting monsters make sure you don;t become a monster yourself' idea.

These pics are so much more satisfying than the teaser, it ain't even funny. Bat-ppetite, sated!

I heard they were doing a casting call for extras in Studio City yesterday (Sunday) for shooting later when they get to LA.  I figured what the hell and decided I'd go down to it.  Unfortunately, I slept late.  By the time I got there it didn't seem so crowded outside this place.  I was handed some paperwork to fill out (and of course forgot a pen).  The number on the back of this blue (for men) paper was 2021.  I followed some other people into this ballroom and there were of course shitloads of people.  I'd never make it as an extra, because as much as I like Batman and the idea of being in even a single frame of this movie, I couldn't be bothered to wait for hours for the slightest chance of being an extra for 65 bucks a day.

The mask, while being evocative of the comic book mask, may subtle reference panties on purpose.

Over in the pre-release thread I put up a link to an essay on Bane that suggests he's a walking hard-on for Batman, with every attempt to emasculate Bats by violating him intimately. Not only does the mask, on a surface level, suggest death (bone fingers) and devouring (teeth), but possibly vagina dentata. I think the choice of Bane as the ultimate man and Catwoman as the ultimate woman is intentional on Nolan's part, as he may be confronting the fetishistic aspect of Batman more straight forward than ever before. At least, I hope.

Moving on, I'll be disappointed if the batsuit stays the same. Hopefully post breaking Batman will return with a new costume. He did after Knightfall and after his defeat at the hands of the mutant leader in TDKR. I just really like the yellow moon symbol and wish it would be restored, but it's not a deal breaker.

Fuck, Nolan is going to have an aneurysm. They need to increase security on the set.
