2011: The Year We Got Ahead Of Ourselves

I expect nothing less.

For what it's worth, people who saw the Comicon footage say it's much lighter in tone and fun than the trailer. And the other stunts looked practical.

So they took a page from the WB marketing guys WRT Green Lantern and went exponential with it.  The only thing I can fathom is a bunch of marketing guys decided to employ The Big Lie on this.

"If we begin saying it is great and repeat it ad nasueum then we will generate hype and make the first film such a hit we have an automatic sequel."

They might as well pencil in the eventual Spider-Man reboot-reboot for 2019.

“I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment.”

How fucking cocky can you get?

So, I assume because Connors, and maybe Gwen Stacy, work at "Ozcorp," they're mimicking Batman Begins and hoping this reboot is strong enough to feature Spidey's biggest nemesis in the sequel, the Green Goblin? Maybe he'll actually have green skin this time around.

Other than Ultimate Spider-man, when did Norman Osborne have actual green skin?  Wasn't it always a suit/costume?

Going into that for a sequel though, it makes me wonder if they're planning on following the comics with what happens.  At this point though, let's just get a good first/fourth movie before worrying about the sequel.

The "One More Day" storyline undid twenty years of forward momentum by editorial fiat.  Maybe Sony is following the comics too closely.

Haha, too true.

Webb's version would need to gross around, what? 500m less than the last Spider-Man to be considered a failure? Is that even possible?

I'd suggest John Hawkes as Osborne.

I'm not shocked, simply for the reason that James Vanderbilt wrote the script for a reboot and a sequel to it back to back.  Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't go ahead and film them together.
