Governor of New Jersey slams Conservative Wingnuts

This is so beautiful it deserves its' own thread:

 

New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie defended his decision to nominate a Muslim judge to the state Superior Court against conservative critics who warned that the new judge will implement Sharia law. The notoriously blunt-spoken Christie calling their fears "crap" and "crazy."

The appointee, Sohail Mohammed, is an American attorney who offered legal aid to New Jersey residents who were suspected after the 9/11 terrorist attacks but were later found innocent of any crimes.

Opponents of Mohammed's nomination have issued warnings, with no evidence, that Christie's nominee, if approved, would base his rulings on Islamic law. Christie was having none of it.

Maybe Christie could hold a seminar for Democrats on how to handle these issues. This "Sharia Law" nonsense has been a talking point of the conservative fringe's Islamophobia platform for a while now, and it's a real shame it took another Republican to call them out on it.

Well these are the folks who probably STILL believe President Obama was born in Kenya and all that jazz (not to mention that he's somehow BOTH a militant anti-white Christian AND a Muslim).  Reasoning w/ neocons = hopeless cause.

I think Christie is doing a real service here. The fact that this kind of idiocy, along with the Birthers, gets serious play by the media, is appalling. To have "one of their own" call the nutters out on their insanity is a good thing.
