FRANCHISE ME: PLANET OF THE APES (TV SERIES)

Go Joshua go! The only things I'd add is that Galen's makeup varied wildly from week to week, and the show had an awesome title theme by Lalo Schifrin, which I can't find on youtube.

I've owned the Ape Head set since it came out, but haven't bothered to watch through these until now.  Hell, I don't think I have seen them since I watched reruns on TV when I was little.  I wasn't expecting much, but so far I'm really digging the show and can easily see why I loved it so much when I was little.  It's not perfect, but as Joshua said, the production design is great for a show of this type and the acting is pretty good.

Also, while the opening credits and the chronometer state that the year is 3085, you will notice that one of the leads tosses in the "at least that was the year when it stopped working" bit that can easily allow this to fit into continuity with the films.  I honestly see no reason why one can't view this so as taking place hundreds of years after the events of Battle.  In the last film it was obvious that, despite the efforts of Caesar, humans would never be fully viewed as equals to the Apes and I can easily see the society within the television show as the direction that things would head.  Humans are more like servants than slaves, they are intelligent enough and can speak, and even have their own villages (albeit governed by Apes).  I have no problem believing that this is the "altered future" after the events of Escape thru Battle.  At least that's my fanboy view of the whole thing.

They go from 1991's color-coded slave jumpsuits to the latest fashions of 3978 in ten years. Don't get too hung up on the timeline making sense.
