Just working on the hellacious personal debt issue and trying to put together an epistolary book in the science fiction genre comprised of logs, recordings, computer data, and various other bits of miscellanea. The idea is that it'll become a best seller and solve all my financial issues. Right? Right?

Anderson is certainly a decent member of the boards, but I think he should have titled this "Are There Still People I Know Here?" to minimize any confusion.  "I don't know who the hell you are" is distinctly unfriendly, although I have read enough of Anderson's stuff to know that he was probably just kidding.  Maybe.

 

CHUD, to my knowledge, is the only for-profit business that not only allows, but encourages, old customers to abuse new ones, as a sort of "justify your existence" hazing ritual.  It stems, I think, from Devin's challenging of people's assertions, which is itself a good thing, but must be handled deftly.  I think lately the nuance and subtlety have diminished, and the toxic atmosphere we see now is the result.

Geez, Anderson, what a shitty thing to say.  I wouldn't blame Art Decade for saying to hell with it. 

 

I still read on a daily basis, but I find it really hard to engage on the boards.  Feels like people only really interact with those they already know.  The site's news content has become more specialized I think....there's lots of articles on shit I don't have any interest in -- someone does, of course, so it's fine for them.  I just feel like Chud doesn't have much broad appeal anymore.  Guy.com is slick, but the myopic maleness of it sucks.  All boobs, booze, and wrestling.  Meh.

 

I read Badass too, but that place reeks in Devin's smug, know-it-all, hypocritical bitchiness, so it's kinda DOA.
