Movie of the Day - Give us suggestions

Thread Starter

Starting tomorrow the Movie of the Day (MOD) column will be returning as a regular daily feature on the site. Is there a movie you would like to see featured? How about choosing a specific writer to cover said movie?

Our MOD crew is as follows:

Myself, Jeremy Butler, Joshua Miller, Erix,  David Oliver, and Sebastian.

Please keep in mind that if you suggest a movie for me to cover that it not be of the gory nature. I can handle Horror just not all that flesh eating shit.

To see what we have already covered just follow this link,

http://www.chud.com/category/types/columns/movie-of-the-day/

I'm really curious as to what our forum members would like to see featured.

'Jeremiah Johnson' w/Robert Redford

'A Shock to the System' w/Michael Caine

'Vanishing Point' w/Barry Newman

Up for grabs by anyone who has not seen them yet.

I have no idea why but I've had a hankering to see American Flyers recently.  So if one of you could be a proxy for that it would be appreciated :)

I watched Vanishing Point not too long ago and considered doing an MOD of it, but the shit blew my mind so thoroughly that the thought of writing about it kinda seemed overwhelming.  So I did one over Two-Lane Blacktop.

Yeah, I dunno how that happened either.

Shock Treatment (1981)  A reality TV Show Rock Musical by Richard O'Brien criminally overlooked.

The Miracle Worker (1962) Just because I caught this on TV and it is one of the few movies where he phrase Tour De Force can be used to describe the acting without over-exaggeration.

I've come up with a few ideas. Keep in mind, the films attached to certain writers are merely suggestions, theirs is simply an interesting perspective on that particular film I'd like to read...

Eileen

The Mission (1986), The Greatest Show On Earth (1952), Interview With A Vampire (1994)

Jeremy Butler

Night Of The Hunter (1955), Dances With Wolves (1990), Razorback (1984)

Joshua Miller

Better Off Dead (1985), Fire And Ice (1983), State Of Grace (1990)

Erix

The 13th Warrior (1999), Romper Stomper (1992), Seems Like Old Times (1980)

David Oliver

The Hustler (1961), Splash (1984), The Ipcress File (1965)

Sebastian

Superman (1978), Animal Kingdom (2010), Open Range (2003)

I'd love to read your write-up for it.  Helluva film.

Eileen, with regards to The Big Blue. Be sure to watch the version with the Eric Serra score (Not the Bill Conti American version).. The ending in both versions are significantly different as well.

Some great suggestions. I'll get around to all of them in time. The one for this week has already been chosen. But I've been meaning to revisit Powder.

Could somebody revisit Daredevil: The Director's Cut please?

It's my guilty pleasure and I will defend it to the death.

Also Mystery Men.

Erix, you'd do me a giant favor to give us a few hundred words on Jade.

I wouldn't mind revisiting DAREDEVIL: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT - RESTORING THE ORIGINAL VISION OF MARK STEVEN JOHNSON for you Mike. I own it. I bought it at a K-Mart in 2003 for $9.99 ... I may as well watch it.

Wait, wait, wait. I got it for you, Erix. I totally jumped the gun on Jade. Oh, I fucking got it.

I will pull a Joker-esque wave of mayhem and aggression if we do not get a MOTD from you on

LOOSE CANNONS

Will be watching shortly on Instant - Fire in The Sky. Thanks Tzu for the suggestion.

I'd seen it a couple of years ago but only got to see bits and pieces.

I own this, have never seen the original and have never understood what the fuss is.  The DC is a good film.

I love you

....I wouldn't mind a review of Kurosawa flicks - not only the ones he directed, but those he wrote - the Posthumus Sea Is Watching I've never seen anyone cover.

Some requests:

RIVER'S EDGE, OVER THE EDGE, LITTLE DARLINGS, THE TENANT (Polanski), and FREEBIE & THE BEAN

I may have to do my own thing for my first outing just to get my bearings, but I will be up for taking requests in the future, especially if they are on Netflix instant.

For whoever...

On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Batman Returns

Thief

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Too many franchises, but what are you gonna do

Here are some movies that I would like to see other contributors to the column cover from the 70's.

Barry Lyndon

Being There

Blacula

The Day of the Locust

Midnight Express

The Omen

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Johnny Dangerously and Silent Movie.

Not sure what the viewing options are, but I'd love a writeup of THE ENGLISHMAN WHO WENT UP A HILL BUT CAME DOWN A MOUNTAIN if at all possible.

Any personal recommendations for me?

Meet the Feebles, please. Or Braindead/Dead Alive, for that matter.
These are not for Eileen.

Would love to see any of the Mad Max films tackled.

Thanks for the heads-up. I take it those movies have a ton of gore?

DEAD ALIVE has pretty much the most gore ever.

Nonono, don't do it, it's seriously everything you said you DIDN'T want to cover. It pushes all the limits. It's a funny movie, and creative as hell, but it's like Evil Dead 2 on extreme steroids. Any given 1 minute span of the last third is gorier than the entirety of most horror films. I'll think up another suggestion, but I'd totally like to see it covered at some point. Meet the Feebles is another that, while not super gory, is still pretty gross and off-putting. I'm still amazed Jackson went on to do LotR, simply based on his first 3 flicks.

There's always Heavenly Creatures.

And yeah, still got a hankerin' for some Mad Max films.

I'd like to see you do something not genre. With all the writing for the column and so on, I've never seen you take on just a regular movie movie.

If that makes sense.

Something like The Bridges Of Madison County or Philadelphia.

On that list, there are two that I would love to do and one that is probably better suited for Josh and his superb FRANCHISE ME column.

I have a soft spot for it and I love Jo Hisaishi's score. It's clearly one of his weakest films though.
