Somewhere, Seth Rogen is sitting alone in a dark room, shamefully weeping and eating a box of Krispy Kremes.

If by "sitting alone in a dark room, shamefully weeping and eating a box of Krispy Kremes" you actually mean "lounging in the sun by the pool of one of his mansions surrounded by starlets while shamefully weeping and eating a box of Krispy Kremes" then we're on the same page.

Dude, Green Hornet didn't make enough for a sequel, but the cash came in, especially overseas. Dude is probably lucky he snuck Green Hornet into the mainstream. You think a guy like him ever dreamed he would be playing a superhero?I'm sure he knows his current status as a leading man is some sort of galactic accident, and he's taken full advantage. He's also laughing at Ryan Reynolds, but that guy is probably also lying on a big pile of money surrounded by even prettier women.

Hollywood is a cruel place.

Not to be a dick, but isn't this article at least 3 weeks early? We still have some major releases between now and Labor Day (or at least releases with big names). Conan, One Day, Fright Night, Spy Kids 4, and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark haven't even been released yet, let alone bombed or turned a profit.

I love these kinds of analysis/retrospectives on CHUD, and this one was well done - but it seems like we're in a bit of a hurry to declare the summer done, no?

I guarantee you every one of those mansions has a secret Crying Room. And those starlets? Trannies.

Green Hornet was a pretty sweet-ass movie, if you ask me. I didn't see that other one, about the color Green . . . Green Goblin, I think.

Winnie The Pooh should be fine. Most of the overseas numbers haven't been added or released yet. The whole thing only cost 30 mil anyway.

As much as I enjoyed the article, I'm inclined to agree with Michael.  We've got a reboot, two remakes, and a sequel yet to be released..........as well as a few others (One Day, The Debt, Colombiana, Our Idiot Brother, etc.) among the films set for release before the end of the summer.  While I doubt any of them will bomb badly enough to edge out the top five on the list, a few of them could end up in the latter half of the roster.

Winnie The Pooh's problem is that it shouldn't have been put out in the middle of the summer and it DEFINITELY should not have been released the same weekend as the final Harry Potter film.  That was beyond moronic.  A spring or fall release would have better served Pooh, especially considering that by all counts it is a good film.

I too wish this article was written later, but only to increase the chances of "Winnie the Pooh" not being on the list. I like the article as a chance to be relieved that a lot of shitty movies got what they deserved, proving people aren't always going to make box office champs out of movies that suck (i.e. Transformers movies). "Winnie the Pooh" being included on a list of such bad movies (regardless of the fact that its box office returns are comparable to theirs) just makes me sad. While I enjoyed "Fast Five" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" very much, "Winnie the Pooh" was definitely the most satisfying movie experience I had at the theatre this summer.

Zookeeper is the one movie I wouldn't think should be on the list. Despite being an eye-raping atrocity, the thing grossed $132 million globally. Granted, that $80 million budget plus hefty p+a suggests there is no theatrical break-even, but it stayed afloat at the box office and it's gonna kill on DVD.

Terrible fucking movie, though.
