Why not? It seems that the fresh new climate in the "land of the free" has recently allowed for interpreting the "free" in a most curious manner. Specifically, by freeing child murderers. And, after all, Manson's girls did kill Sharon Tate's child.
The recent case in likely the most revolting one of all. Three victims, each aged 8 - and three killers, each freed after 18 years. For each life, a mere 6 years. Not a bad deal for two violent psychopaths and one alcoholic bully - especially with Hollywood friends and deals awaiting. Or so the ringleader of the three murderers hopes.
One wonders if a deluded psychotic - who, before the murders, tortured and killed animals (http://callahan.8k.com/wm3/joehb.html), threatened to set fires and regularly attacked his peers, once sharpening his nails in an attempt to blind some - will re-offend again now.
