This show is so damn gratuitous you have to like it. It's like Spartacus all over again.

Just to add to everything said so far, I love the fact that Scott's favorite word seems to be my favorite word: FUCK. Seriously, I want to put together a montage of all the times Scott says "Fuck Me!," Fuck You!," Fuck!" This show is greatness. By the way, I loved when Scott got out of the truck: "That was fun. I love this country. I think I'm gonna move here."

I feel like going around to every action film shooting right now, sitting down the crews, and making them watch this entire series. Because this show gets action filmmaking better than anyone out there at the moment.

The only way this show could have been better: shooting the smuggled gun through the head.

The guy getting blown across the hallway also had a Wilhelm Scream, if I'm not mistaken.

I'll say this: Scott and Stonebridge combined almost equal the entertainment value of one Jack Bauer. Not really, but almost.

I'm finally up to date with the series, and I'm genuinely confused (but curious) about who the mole is.

The partnership between Scott and Stonebridge is something special. These guys have really believable chemistry.

I'm still fairly positive the mole is the techie Sgt lady. Feel like they are trying to make us think that "Trojan Horse" is the uptight Major guy but I doubt it's him.

Oh, I also forgot to add that this show is now dangerously close to my ultimatum. Where are the Colonel Grant boobs I demanded, dammit?! They are pushing their luck.

they are impossibly perky under her "military" issue T-shirt.

As for who the mole is...who cares!  The real question is, who is going to shoot he/she in the head!

I have only watched the first episode, but I found it damned enjoyable.  The best part is that it's competent!  You'd expect something like this to look bad or have shitty actors or the action to suck but no!  B-grade fun, all around!

Also, boobs.

Yeah, these guys would have Jack dead in a half-an-hour and Scott would go down on Kim Bauer just to clench it.

Same here. After all the good words in here I just had to check it out. Fun stuff, but not in a cheap way.

What drink is Scott always ordering?

It's called Laphroaig... pronounced something like -laufroig- or -laufroag- it is Scotch. A nasty smelling chest-hair-putting-on scotch. It has a rather medicinal smell to it. I haven't been brave enough to try it, but it is somewhat pricey.

Amanda :)

Thank you. I appreciate it.

Well that was a good one. Loved the Chechen firefight. I do think it is funny their fire team went from 6 to 3 to 2. And we got a tease that Grant might show us something. Maybe. One day.

An episode that ends on a... positive cliffhanger? What a switcharoo!

"Position is we're fucked!" Loved how during the big "2 against 114" firefight they'd have Scott lay down cover fire while Stonebridge would retreat back. Then Stonebridge would lay down cover fire while Scott retreated back. Then repeat. I'm sure there's some fancy-shmancy special forces term for that sort of thing but I don't know it.

Boy if I ever went to work for Latif I'd put an air-tight clause in my contract that would forbid him from killing me when he was done with my services. There's no way I'd help him otherwise. I'd demand to have that in writing. It's the only way I'd feel safe.

Boy we are rocketing to the finale.  I am starting to get a bit teary eyed (I know its for bitches, but hey Scott and Stonebridge shared a moment, why can't we all show some vulnerability???).

The Georgian strike team that "accompanied" the Dynamic Duo was marked for death from the beginning.  They were all wearing masks.  Sucks to be those extras...couldn't even get their faces on camera!  I hope craft services was at least good!

Did anyone see the bumper promo they played right before the show started?  Someone tweeted the things that every great show needs: Gratuitous nudity, gratuitous violence, and LIAM CUNNINGHAM!!!

I thought that was a great plug for the show.  They then followed it with a bunch of tweets from average joes like ourselves singing praises for the show.

Anyway on to the STRIKEBACK COUNTDOWN (brought to you by Coke Zero):

1. HEADSHOTS:  There was the obvious headshot to the busty Chechen Islamist Terrorist Surgeon (try fitting that all on one business card!).  Going off what Molt posted earlier...you gotta wonder about Lateef.  He kills everyone!  Doesn't he get lonely?  Do you think he kills the UPS guy after his AMAZON.PK packages arrive?  I'd also like to highlight the epic fight against an entire Chechen force, which involved Stonebridge knifing some fool in the neck (which we covered last week does count as a headshot).  That shootout was pretty insane.  It bordered almost on the level of "too Hollywood" for the show.  They've done a good job of keeping the skirmishes small and believeable without making the two leads look like Rambo-esque super soldiers.

2. SEX:  Right from the get go we get Scott boning down with the psychiatrist/mole/euro trash chick.  The two get interrupted by the Colonel Grant herself who did seem visibly perturbed that someone else was experiencing foreign relations with Scott.  I like that the two confronted each other over it later in the episode also.  We then immediately cut to Stonebridge getting it on with his preggo wife...who he kinda already wanted to leave when he was boning the blonde who blew up earlier...and now wants to continue to ignore because of "work" and "duty to his country".  I think those two crazy kids have a shot.  *fingers crossed Stonebridge makes it out of the season finale with all 5 limbs still attached*  While they didn't actually bed her, the Chechen prostitute/lookout was a funny scene.  I figure they should have seen that shit coming though.  I mean look at all the other women they have had on this show...save for the queen of england chick who had the hots for Michael from last episode every chick has been hot...they should have known something was up when the hideous prostitute tried to solicit them.

3.  INNOCENT BYSTANDER DEATH:  In the cold open, they blew up that guy in the lab which was I assume a test of the VX gas device surgically implanted inside his belly.  He did not seem like a willing participant in the Jihad of the Day.

4.  EVERYTHING GOES TO SHIT:  Well the whole raid on the bunker went to shit pretty fast.  Too bad it was the faceless Georgian "special forces" guys who paid the price!  Grant's plan on showing Scott info on Trojan Horse also went to shit when she was totally V-Blocked by her former informant.  ***The episode did end with something actually going right for once in catching Lateef***  Something tells me he is not going to want to talk!  I bet there are terrorist masterminds out there who probably spill their guts right away right?  Gotta find more of those guys.

5. WILDCARD OF THE EPISODE:  Maybe you guys can help me with this one.  There was nothing that completely blew my socks off like in previous episodes.  But one thing that I did not see coming was the introduction of the "Classic Buddy Cop Bromance" moment.  I figured this show would try and avoid it, but I guess it was inevitable they were going to have one or the other express their love for the other guy.  Also, I was a bit surprised, pleasantly of course, to see the shot of Obama (He is the POTUS for all you foreigners out there) walking into Budapest for this security summit.  It adds an extra layer of tension and I am sure helps bring in that valuable 18-49 demo stateside.  Kids with disposable income love Barack.

One more episode ladies and gents...judging from the promo it looks like it is gonna leave us real "Hungary" for season 2.

That shot of Obama on the TV definitely stood out. It made Strike Back real for me. It's not taking place in some fantasy land like 24. Strike Back is actually happening and my President's life is in danger.

Another bit I liked from the massive shootout was the sweet hacky sack kick-save Scott busted out on that incoming grenade.

Predictably enough this tactic is called Fire And Movement. And they executed it very well I must add. Right down to calling each other by name. Knowing about this stuff makes watching it being implemented so much better.

Anyway, where the fuck did this show come from? Seriously, I can't recall a TV action series that fun. At all. Ever. And boobs too? So cool.

Loved the "I complete you" bit. All day had me laughing. Tried to explain it to someone who watched the show and they just looked at me. made me giggle more about it.

By the way, the action in this was as good as Way of the Gun, which really has some nice action movements. But really, the buddy stuff was aces in this episode.

I've been thinking about it for a while. The firefight in Chechnya is the first action sequence I've seen in years to rival the Galactica's atmospheric jump in Exodus Pt. 2 for sheer, big screen rivaling excitement.

We're talking about SyFy and Cinemax over here. Why is everyone else slacking?

My wife has been watching this series (she has time on her hands during the day caring for some elderly relatives), and when I finally had a chance to sit down and catch the latest episode... well, fuck that was some good, clean fun. Can't wait to get caught up.

Watched episodes 7 and 8 today (I've watched all the two-parters back to back, which has really helped each part feel like a movie). Fuck me, this show is so great. Also, I'm now unashamedly saying "fuck me" all the time.

Sad, but also excited, to see the final two episodes this weekend. Do we know if another series has been commissioned/if the ratings are good?

They better renew. Because I have a feeling I won't get to see Grant naked this year.

It's already been renewed. I just hope they keep Scott and Stonebridge on next season, because how the hell is it even possible to follow them up?

Just checked Wiki, it has indeed been renewed for another 10 episode run.

I find myself dropping "fuck" a lot more after watching this show.

And each two parter feels like its own action film.

I am so glad others have caught on to this show's greatness.

Of course it won't be remembered at the Emmy's, but maybe the SPIKE TV "guy" awards??

I remember reading they wouldn't reveal the cast for next season because they didn't want to spoil upcoming episodes...I am imagining that was just a smokescreen.

Scott and Stonebridge are like the new Crocket and Tubbs.  They need to be on TV for the next decade.

Scott and Stonebridge aren't going anywhere. Grant, Sinclair, and the Sgt. lady are all candidates to eat a bullet tomorrow, though I gotta believe at some point Scott will nail Grant so I suspect she's relatively safe. For now.

Outside of the recent Grant-spy that Scott has boned two episodes in a row, most chicks he bones dies.

I think Grant will be safe till she gets boned.

Just started season 2 last night.  Was utterly shattered to see Porter buy it in the first five minutes.  Armitage was The Badass Supreme in season 1.  Stonebridge looks like a UK Tahmoh Penikett, which keeps the missus happy.  The change between s1 and s2 is jarring (yeah, yeah - you can do sex and tits, I get it.  Now just stop for five minutes, please?), but it's still a damn good show.  Oh, and best opening titles/theme song combo since The Wire.

Don't get me wrong, I like me some sex and tits.  But Porter didn't need 'em every five minutes to get the job done in season1, and I just think . . . holy shit, I'm starting to sound like Princess Kate.  Fuckin' forget it.

HuffPo (I feel dirty just having typed that) seems to be one of the few online sources that has been touting the greatness of this show.

Good interview with Phillip Winchester (Scott) and Amanda Mealing (Col. Grant)

Looks to be an explosive finale!

The fuckers killed my Grant. I never got to see her naked.

OK maybe I'm still kidding. It still sucks, though.

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spoilers galore here guys...

It takes a lot to actually surprise me and literally have me on the edge of my seat these days but this show fucking did it.  The last 20 minutes...WOW.

This whole show was like your first love in elementary school as a young pre-pubescent boy...the cute chick with braces who only you thought was cute at the time because you saw past the superficial.  I am proud to say that when this cute chick gets her braces off and becomes a superstar I will be the guy who can say "I LOVED HER FIRST".

Molt said it.  BALLS.  This show has a BALLS OF FUCKING STEEL.

I am not even sure where to start so lets just get into the countdown.

1. HEADSHOTS:  We got some real good ones between the Pakistani presidential candidate and the second "spleen bomber".  The special FX work has been fantastic in this show.  Don't worry I'll get to the explosion in the end!  The squib work is excellent.  If they are using CGI at all to accentuate the headshots, I can't tell at all.  Bravo on setting the new standard for gunshot wound head trauma in a drama series (yes there should be an emmy for this and yes this show would win it hands down).

2. SEX:  You guys may not have noticed, but there was no sex at all in this episode.  No tits, not even the implication of sex as far as I can remember...and you know what it didn't matter at all!  I am sorry Stelios you will never see Col. Grant's Trojan Horses.  It looked like she was smuggling quite the stash.  RIP COL. GRANT

3. INNOCENT BYSTANDER DEATH:  Interestingly enough, no one innocent really died.  A lot of redshirts ate it when they stormed the crypt, but they were all supposedly trained military types...at least I assume so because they were wearing fatigures.  Even with the first blast in the train, I imagine some of that VX could have given someone a nasty cough, but I guess they saved everyone they could here.  They even saved the preggo lady!

4. EVERYTHING GOES TO SHIT:  I can also rename this, EVERYTHING COMES TO A HEAD.  After a big victory getting Lateef, his chechen cronies are led right to the crypt and totally fuck that place up.  Then they lose the Col!!!  But I really appreciate how they wrapped up the story.  It was an interesting way of revealing the mole to be someone who kinda accidentally became the mole.  I kinda liked that because there was no real "A-HA!" moment.  It was really great acting watching Grant make amends for her mistakes though.  I do like Lateef's line though "Touching...but I'll probably edit that last part out!"  HAHA!  Oh Lateef, such a jokester!

5. WILD CARD:  While its not new to kill prinicipals, this show did it better than any other.  They really got us invested in Grant and actually gave her a fitting send-off.  While I remember she grabbed the empty bomb canister, I figured she'd use it to escape, not kill herself.  I think the whole last twenty minutes was just so expertly done.  I really didn't know how it was going to all go down.  Can we take a minutes to talk about the bomb defusal scene?  I know it's been done to death, but am I the only one who found that whole sequence to be truly nail biting?  I was literally hanging on every second of that scene.  Maybe its because I knew this show has the balls to maybe actually kill Stonebridge.  I don't know, they really revamped an old idea and made it feel fresh.  Oh and did everyone enjoy the miming of Scott's favorite phrase after the explosion?

BTW, what a final explosion.  The mix of CGI and practical FX was awesome.  Watching the two bodies go flying was a really visceral effect.  Really really great work.

Another thing I really loved was the full circle we came on Stonebridge...obviously something is gonna happen next year to bring him back to duty but it was a fitting completion of the circle having him disarm the second terrorist with just his words and no guns in order to save the pregnant woman.  But, just to remind us what we were watching as the terrorist gave up his human shield he is thanked with a HUNGARIAN HEADSHOT!!!  And just when you thought it was over they throw another curveball and have the bomb be activated and allows Stonebridge to play the most dangerous game of OPERATION EVER!!!  Whats up with Sinclair getting all flustered in the heat of the moment man!  The earth wire is always green!!!  Thats just logical!

Well, its been an entire season gents and I am glad to see the amount of different posters in this thread.  I know we all enjoyed this one and are looking forward to season 2.  My whole TV watching season just got a lot less exciting.  Frankly, I watch these basic cable "action dramas" and literally find myself laughing at them.  I honestly can't watch a lot of stuff on TV anymore because it seems so impotent, weak, poorly written, boring, etc.

This has been a long time coming...STRIKE BACK IS THE BEST SHOW ON TV.  PERIOD...fuck me!

Fuck me! Holy crap what a hell of an ending.

Loved the silent slow mo "Fuck Me" by the way.

Really, stop production on all action films, especially any spy or military flicks, until they sit down and watch this show. Nothing felt cheap. All of it was good. I loved the way the guy grabbed Scott's rig after he had him down.

So, how is the new Transporter? Anyone watch it?

Thought that was the new Transporter which aired before Strike Back. Just saw it wasn't.

They'll be a new Transporter TV Series next year, if you're interested.
