Renn is worried Affleck is signing on to a bad idea...

Sounds very interesting.

People overreacted to the effects in the Amazing Spider-Man teaser (which worked fantastically well in 3-D) and, since this doesn't sound dependent on SFX anyway, I have no more problem with the idea of a film told entirely through P.O.V. shots than I did with a film documenting a monster attack on New York entirely through the lens of a (character's) camera.

The prospect of more Action-Affleck is to be welcomed, especially if he's directing.

Whatever happened to Affleck adapting Replay?

The Channel 4 comedy Peep Show is shot entirely as POV, they use head mounted cameras and the cast acts into the camera if they are addressing that person.

It cheats a bit in that it uses multiple perspectives - they'll even have an 'extra' be the POV person on occasion - but it works very well whether the actors are just standing around or doing something more dynamic (here the helmet cams really come into play). They don't worry about blinking though, and neither will this - a lost couple of frames every few seconds would just piss people off.

Blinks would allow for actual editing though, and require less computer wizardry in merging shots as opposed to spending huge amounts of money on long single takes.

I'm guessing he moved on, as last I read Robert Zemeckis was toying with directing Replay.

Hurumph.  Never thought I'd say this as I used to consider Zemeckis one of my favorites, but at this point, that's a huge step down.

Interesting to note that two of the greatest directors almost did first-person projects, but were denied it by the studios. Welles' attempt was his first-person adaptation of HEART OF DARKNESS, and then Hitchcock tried it with KALEIDOSCOPE.
