BESSON SAYS TAKEN 2 REUNITES THE WHOLE GANG IN OCTOBER

A bunch of people that don't matter will return for the Liam Neeson badassery show!

This is good news.

And, if by "everyone will return", they are also referring to Leland Orser and Jon Gries, that means the movie will most likely be awesome and fulfill all our lofty expectations.

Who actually directs the movie is kind of irrelevant. yes, Pierre Morel brought a keen eye and sense of pacing to the first one. But these flicks are all very dictated by Besson himself in any case.

I don’t think many people care if Famke Janssen or Maggie Grace show back up

Personally, I do care if Janssen shows up for the sequel. For me, the first movie wasn't just about Neeson giving beatdowns and breaking bones, it was also about Janssen's hilarious reactions to the cruel ways her ex-husband tried to scar her mentally.

MILLS DELIBERATELY PUTS SAM ON SPEAKERPHONE

Mills: "She has to hear this too, Sam."

Sam: "Oh, ok! So it looks like these guys specialize in human trafficking."

LENORE LOOKS DESTROYED

Sam: "Before, they would offer women from East European countries jobs in the West, as maids and nannies. They would smuggle these women in, then get them hooked on drugs and turn them into prostitutes."

LENORE STARTS WEEPING

Sam: "These days though, they mostly just kidnap poor defenseless young women."

Lenore: "Not my Kim!!!"

Sam: "Yeah, and based on what we know you have a 96 hour window from the time she was taken."

Mills: "96 hours to what?"

Sam: "To never seeing your daughter again, EVER."

Lenore: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That might be true, but Megaton (awesome surname aside) is the shittiest of the stable of Besson-monkeys (Morel/Leterrier/Alessandrin...) and is a stepdown from Morel. I say that having not seen FROM PARIS WITH LOVE.

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE sucked.

Now is the time for dick-measuring, Stuart!!!

Definitely bring back all the poker buddies for some Wild Bunch/Ronin awesome sauce.

I like the idea of Taken In Space.  Make him Charlie Bronson with a little Doctor Who in merciless mode thrown in.

And also the dick measuring contest that Neeson insists isn't going on can continue to go on and he can continue winning.

I hope they don't do something cheesy, like have them back together in the sequel. That would stink.

Let her continue to fantasize about her ex husband while Xander Berkely quietly does his monthly duties.

I haven't seen any of Megaton's films. So, I'll take your word for it. I wouldn't mind Leterrier instead of Megaton, in any case.

The 30 minutes of Clash of the Titans that I saw were, at the very least, well-staged. The movie seemed boring as hell. But it looked good is my point.

So I trust him to stage large scale action appropriately. And I expect bigger action in TAKEN II: RENDEZVOUS.

I like that idea too. But Renn's right. Let's take this one step at a time. Neeson can go all Moonraker for Part 3.

I'm thinking something horrible will happen to the more modestly endowed Stuart in the sequel. Obviously that won't be what makes Mills leap into action, but it will probably be the thing that Mills uses to traumatize his wife for his own sick amusement, e.g. he'll force her to identify small dicked Stuart's corpse even though everyone at the morgue keeps telling him it's not necessary.

"She has to see this Sam, it's for her own good."

"OH GOD NO, MY STU!"

The only way to make this movie even crazier would be to have the actual dick measuring. IN 3D.

Neeson is going to continue his reign as one of the 3 reigning older men of action (Sly Stallone and Stephen Lang being the other 2.) I hope the man never stops doing action. I want to see him in his 70's breaking out a sword from his cane and slicing up a group of thugs.

They need to find another minority gang that reeks of somebody's barely suppressed Xenophobic views.

Rene (Mr.Eko), I am ready to be...Taken, on another wonderful adventure in the world of...Bryan Mills.  I am expecting the sequel to be...Taken to new heights of...Awesomeness!  Maybe, Bryan can find a way for Al Qaida to get over...TAKEN!

Paul Allen, Don't be mis...TAKEN, Pierre Morel's From Paris With Love is...All Kinds Of Awesome!  To me it is one of Travolta's best!

duke fleed, I hope to be TAKEN as well with this sequel!

All sounds good except for Megaton. The guy just doesn't seem to have it from what i've seen.

Wish Besson was directing it honestly.

It's been so long since Besson has done anything but fucking Arthur cartoons that I almost forgot he's actually a very solid orchestrator of action. Still... I'd be a little worried about him trying to inject too much pathos into Taken II: Rendezvouz and having it blow up in his face.

If they ever get around to doing that Leon sequel with a grown up Natalie Portman, however.....

*****

Someone I just thought of... Kiss of the Dragon director Chris Nahon. Whatever happened to him?

Aside from his constant teases of directing another sci-fi epic (supposedly his next directorial effort), he has in fact directed two live action films in recent years......

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec (2010)

The Lady (2011)

The former hasn't had a US release yet to my knowledge and the latter has a limited release sometime in the near future.

Also, Besson has already made "Taken in space" and added a heavy does of Escape From New York for good measure..............Lockout (2012) starring Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare, and Tom Hollander.

Guy Pearce plays a government agent convicted of a crime which he did not commit. He is offered his freedom if he can rescue the President's daughter from a prison in space which has been overtaken by its prisoners.

Yeah, I'm skipping Columbiana because we're getting LOCKOUT! I think that one's gonna be the SHIT.
