Every Playboy centerfold from 1960-1999 normalized

Thread Starter

Jason Salavon scanned every PLAYBOY centerfold from January 1960 to December 1999, and outputted a mean image representing each decade in the form of a 5-foot-tall, ghostly photograph. Over time, the women got skinnier, blonder, and whiter. An unusual way of proving a lack of diversity in the promotion of an ideal of the female human form.

Does it represent a trend in lack of bush in recent years?

This is like Shroud of Turin porn.

Hahahaha. Yeah thats pretty much exactly what it is!

Assuming the same exact method was used for each photo, I'd say it's mildly disturbing that the 1990's were apparently so homogenized that a mean image gives us the impression of a single somewhat-discernible face.

If you squint your eyes just right, you can still masturbate to it.

Another thing you have to account for is the actual quality of the photographs from 1960-1999.  Photographs became a lot clearer/cleaner as the years progressed, and when Photoshop arrived the quality of the pictures, along with blemishes, variances in skin color on parts of the body, tattoos, etc., were all getting cleaned up as well.  Plus add in the commonality of plastic surgery, tanning beds, teeth whiteners, and even the types of backgrounds in the centerfold shots.  Having said that, I didn't go to the link (I'm at work and anything with the "Play" word is going to be blocked) so maybe he accounted for all of that using (ironically) Photoshop.

That being said, was there a lot of fake spray on tanning in the 70s?  That picture is pretty orange.

And maybe the lighting has been less "soft" as it once was. Just a thought.

That was the term I was searching for--"soft lighting".
