Hawaii Five-0 season 2

I guess its time to gear up for the new fall season. Surprisingly, Hawaii 5-0 had the best cliffhanger out of all the shows I watched last year, so I'm excited for season two.

TV Guide provides some minor spoilers on who's guest starring in the first episode. AWESOME.

I still don't know how the gang will get back together since half of them are in jail, but should be a fun time.

Really dug this show last season, looking forward to what they bring in season 2.

gotta say they nailed this first episode for season 2. Loved how they brought Masi Oka into the fold, loved Jin and  Locke together, loved seeing Spike in prison.. loved seeing Grace Park high kick in jean shorts and loved the twist ending.

Awesome.

They lost me after about 4 episodes of the first season.  Has the show really gotten any better?

I don't watch this show, but it was hard to ignore those JIN AND LOCKE REUNION! promo ads they had a few weeks ago. I'm curious, did they have any in-jokes, meta references, or anything like that? And is Terry O'Quinn a regular now or was it a one off?

I didn't notice any meta jokes, but then again I gave up on Lost in the 2nd season. This show is bubble gum, but fun bubble gum.

Five-O is one of my favorite shows, and after that amazing cliffhanger I think they followed it up with a terrific season premiere. I was totally shocked at the revelation that Kaye, the analyst, was working for Wo Fat, but it really explained alot of things, and why Wo Fat is always a step ahead of Five-O. And I'm also looking forward to the new blonde bombshell that they'll be introducing as one of the season's regular soon.

I'm not sure how to feel knowing that someone is genuinely invested in the overarching storyline for this. I was tempted to watch again for the Jin/Locke episode but then ended up forgetting.

Not liking that fact Kono is sidelined. I hope she gets back into 5.0 soon. I thought this would be a one episode thing, but with Tom Sizemore in the fold, they might stretch out this storyline a bit.

Good news is that LOCKE will be in more episodes this year.

I'm calling it KONO is working undercover. There is no other explanation for her doing somewhat "shady" work.

That goes without saying. I'm loving her "bad girl" outfit, though.

McGarrett and Danno's banter just makes me chuckle. Loved the interaction at the history museum.

Yeah, this and some of the stunts are the highlights in the show. This and Castle are the only formulaic shows I watch each week.

Speaking of Stunts. Who knew Terry O'Quinn was a brawler? Yes he had a stunt double, but some of those shots were actually him. Truly the highlight of the episode... that and McGarret pulling a Vega move from Street Fighter II.

This show is just awesome.

Kono has some wonky hair in this season.

And LOL, Terry O'Quinn can hold his own against Marc Dacascos.

The mini- HEROES reunion was kind of sad.. but I enjoyed Danno's emotional response to Enemy Mine.

I actually watch this how and can't remember anything about it the next day.  I remember them watching Enemy Mine, and Danno calling it a classic, but who else was from Heroes besides the coroner/medical examiner?

Oh and apparently this is in the same continuity as NCIS: LA, NCIS, and JAG.  Let's see if they can throw in Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, and Two Broke Girls while they're at it.

Because I'd hate to see a scene where Boomer is trying to teach a bikini clad Kat Dennings how to surf...or ticklefight.

Wow. McGarrett gets kidnapped and held prisoner in North Korea and only 5-0, LOCKE, David Keith and his posse, and JIMMY BUFFETT can save the day.

Seriously, this was stupid fun. Also for having the balls to kill off a character, Hawaii-5-0 wins for being one of the few action shows on TV.

So weird. Definitely did not expect the episode to go there.  And I gotta say, the shot of Hotie (I don't think I remember her name) blowing up the bridge from the helicopter was cool.

I like the addition of Lauren German's character, but not to the degree that they seem to be marginalizing Kono more and more.  Even after she came back from that undercover assignment, she's "sitting in the van" while German is becoming more and more of the A-team.  This last episode was good.  Show is good and fun.  Need more Locke.  Also, the Heroes reunion was trite.  The Lost reunion was done much better, without the tongue in cheek budge nudge wink wink hokiness.

Well I'm about sick of McGarrett not doing anything about the fact Joe White (O'Quinn) knows all about "shelbourne" and never really does anything about it.

It's like Joe White will let out a little bit of info every week.. just to piss McGarrett off.   Why doesn't he just torture and interrogate him like he does all the bad guys?

I never caught the Lost reference they made. Someone want to tell me?

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone else caught the single most egregious product placement I've seen yet on a TV show.  At least a 60-second plug for Subway, maybe longer, right in the middle of the show.  One of the recurring characters--who owns his own food truck nonetheless--is chowing down on a subway sub, still half in the wrapper.  OK, Subway put up some cash for that.  But then, he goes on to name-check a couple of this month's featured subs, and mentions how healthy they are,  so he can lose weight like Jarred.  Then a quick plug about how $5 footlongs are such a good deal.

Again, in the middle of a scene.  A minute-long discussion of Subway smack in the middle of a scene.  This isn't the good guys drive Chevys, the bad guys drive Fords...this was like something out of the 1950s.

Also, after months of set-up, kind of brushed off the whole plot involving bald Lost guy.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

So the guy McGarret's been searching for all this time was just his dad's codename for his op?  Weak.

But it felt like it was going nowhere for a while now, so hopefully bald Lost guy does a Poochie and his spaceship blows up on his way back to his home planet.  Entertaining cast kind of hamstrung by this overacrhing plot arc that doesn't really suit the show.

wow. Didn't expect to see Dennis Miller blow up literally.

That was pretty awesome.

Was his pre-boom shtick indicative of his real life post-freakout material? Because if so, yeesh!

And was that Las Vegas show that long ago? Because either the make-up crew worked overtime for that or James Caan crashed HARD these last few years.

Sadly no, that show ended in about 2008 so these last four years have been incredibly unkind...... to say the least.

Last Week's Ed Asner episode was probably one of the coolest episodes Hawaii Five-O has put out. Resurrecting a character from the original series and Ed Asner still playing the Fence.  Check this out online or on demand before you miss it.  Very fun indeed.

Was his character in the original series as ultimately as cold/evil as he was in the episode?
