Call this quite disappointing. It was always doubtful that he'd repeat the monster that was Tha Carter III, obviously one of the strongest genre outputs of the last decade, but whatever made him shine on that, seemingly left him after being imprisoned and putting out two miserable experiments.

There are still killer rhymes and really good lines on Carter Four, but the music itself and the arrangements are letdown. First impressions, I only really enjoy four songs. President Carter, which sounds like a variation of Tie My Hands and Shoot Me Down, the Jay-Z Hard Knock Life kinda 6 Foot 7 Foot, She Will and Mirror. The latter feat. two I usually don't like, Bruno Mars and Drake. Sigh.

Four out of sixteen, seventeen. Is that the IV in Tha Carter IV?
