Fringe season 4 - Page 3

The invisible guy with the genetic disorder.

Yeah, that's the last one. There was supposed to be one more before the break, but a baseball rainout pushed it to January. The preview made it look like it would have been a massive cliffhanger, so perhaps it's for the best. :)

Ok. Thanks for the info. Though Nina injecting Liv with syringes is a pretty big cliff hanger in its own right!

Oh, and if Peter is right, Olivia being with Lincoln isn't that big of a deal, as what we've seen this season is Earth3, not Earth1 (ours).

That would also mean that those Observer scenes may need a reinterpretation...

The Liv-Lincoln relationship angle is lame because it means that we're gonna spend more time with this group of Fringe folk rather than get back to the people I care about. Say they do get me to care about anything that happens between them, then they're gonna pull the rug out and move back to the original timeline and we have to start all over? I'm not interested in that.

The whole observer angle concerns the observer trying to undo the damage he caused by saving Peter so from what I can tell, this is still Earth1, just with Peter having been erased. Peter doesn't realise this, which is why he assumes it's a third iteration.

Fox President Kevin Reilly on Fringe's status.

On Fringe: First the good. “Fringe has been a point of pride for me, I share the fans’ passion for the show. I love the fact that with it Fox put genre back on the network. I’m grateful to the fans who followed the show to Fridays, and with Fringe there, we have a real Friday night for the first time.” Then came the bad. “We lose a lot of money on the show. At that rating on that night it’s almost impossible for us to make money. We are not in the business of losing money, so we’re trying to figure out if there a number at which we can continue with the series. We haven’t even sat down with the producers yet.”

Wah!

This is so depressing.

And watch some turd like "Whitney" will be renewed.

Fringe is still one of my favourite shows right now. I just wish we get "Our" Olivia back.

Seriously is anyone a fan of timeline reboots? They just seem like a cheat whether they do it in TV Series or in comics.

It's an awful show that probably costs nothing to make.

I'm constantly surprised at the production budget for Fringe.  I get what he's saying.  Plus, this whole last season I've felt like they've gotten away from what makes the show compelling.  That's just me though.  It's a show I've really enjoyed but this last season has really been making it hard for me to enjoy.

Maybe they should put cheap shows on Friday nights given the lower potential audience instead of just putting Sci-Fi there hoping that nerds don't have other things to do than watch Fox on Friday nights.

Hey, it's back! And quite good too!

I liked that you could tell Peter was dreaming because his Walter was wearing pants.

It looks like this universe's story will end before long, and with a bang. It's taken a bit too long to get there, but I admire the balls to follow through on an extremely scifi "what if?" scenario.

I need to watch this again asap.

I was expecting a OMG moment.. but I'll settle for an "You're supposed to die, those are the rules."

Really good episode, and I love how Peter casually mentioned Olivia's ability to warp from one universe to the next and Olivia's "what are you talking about face."

Glad that Fringe is back and looks like Universe 2 might be infected with shape shifters.

FINALLY some storyline progress. Glad to see that Waltnerate isn't as much of a bastard in this .... alternate, alternate universe as he is in our alternate universe. And it was great seeing Elizabeth again.

Speaking of Elizabeth, Walter described to Peter how, when, and why she committed suicide in this timeline, and I'm just wondering what it is about "our" universe Elizabeth that is so prone to killing herself, versus ... let's call her Walternate's Elizabeth, who seems so strong and that doesn't seem to be an option for her. Is it because her relationship with Walternate is seemingly more stable and stronger? Our Elizabeth/Walter's relationship in both timelines is fated to fail, whether through death or divorce. Hmmm. We'll never know, but I'm curious anyway.

I dislike this alternate Olivia, and it's a sad day when I'm rooting for Fauxlivia over her. The shapeshifter story is interesting and I'm happy to see David Robert Jones again, but I'm really ready to wrap up this story and get back to our timeline. I feel like I don't know any of these characters, and I don't want to waste anymore time getting to know them--not when our characters had developed such an interesting dynamic. I don't care, they can have all three going simultaneously, I just need for our regular universe Fringe team to be present.

And my face was so sad when I realized that amberverse Broyles is in all likelihood, a shapeshifter. Damn. He isn't alive in this timeline either.

I was thinking about it too. Maybe it's because the Walternates seem more assertive and willful? The Walters both broke down when the Peter stuff happened and their Elizabeths were left to deal with it on their own. On the contrary, Walternates seemed to become more focused and steeled by Peter's death and so provided an anchor point for their wives?

I hate having to wait 8 days to watch this show. Anyone have a Dish Network account and be willing to share their online password?

*Meaning, not your password for paying bills and stuff. For viewing videos online. I believe they are separate things as you have to create an account on Fox.com to view videos.

I've got to say that of all the stuff on TV write now I absolutely love this show. Last night's episode was a great example of why - no matter which characters were in the scene there were layers of tension, strangeness and emotion based on multiple angles. And for the first time ever I'm really starting to like Peter's character. He's always left me kind of cold before, I like his more aggressive and in-your-face attitude (loooved the scene with Jones and him in the interrogation room, for instance).

That was an excellent hour of TV. All Fringe universe and a peek at more of the baddies inhabiting each universe. Looks like next week might go back to monster of the week, but damn I enjoyed a roundtable of dopplegangers. Wondering when and how this group will find out about Evil-Broyles.

Yeah, these last two episodes have been terrific.

also pretty sure I saw an observer in the Free Money crowd chaos scene. Either that or it was just a bald guy in a hat. Still, this is one of the few times where I've been able to find these easter eggs, so my position stands.

Very much so.

It's a crime that this will be, in all probability, Fringe's last season. A terrible, terrible crime.

An Observer just walked by in that scene.

I love the jumping back and forth between dimensions.  I'm hoping for a chase scene where someone can jump at will and both Olivias have to chase.

Please get renewed.

I was skeptical of the whole reboot this season, but god damn if I wasn't wrong.  These last two weeks have been phenomenal. It IS a crime that this show doesn't get the budget and viewership that it deserves. How the hell has Noble not gotten a mountain of awards yet?  Believe me, I loves me my Cranston (and Breaking Bad in general).. but NOBODY can touch the work Noble has been cranking out with all of these varying Walters.  When Fringe is done and over with - unfortunately sooner than it ought to be - I really hope he gets some juicy roles that finally get him the recognition he so deserves.

The Elizabeth/Walter scene was probably the best of the entire season. She's such a strong character. I get why she can't exist in our "regular" Fringe universe, but I'm so happy we get her from time to time.

I didn't know Lincoln Lee was married to Opie's daughter.  And they just had another baby.

He's married to Bryce Dallas Howard? Lucky son of a bitch.

Glad you all are enjoying it.  I think I'm finally done with it.  At the twist at the end of the episode my wife finally asked me to take it off the DVR record list.  I agree it's ambitious, I disagree that it's successful in it's ambitions.

I am still a fan. But they need to get Peter home at the end of this. Thie new Universe means 3 wasted years of storylines.

I love the characters and world of Fringe, but I am personally too stupid to follow this show that well.  I am pretty confused when or where this is all going on.  I mean, I kinda know what's going on in a general sense, but the dots are not connecting for me.  This show reminds me of one of those dot puzzles I did as a kid.  Yknow, draw a line from 1 to 2 to 3, etc. and it will reveal an image.  But I didn't know how to count yet, so I tried to draw a line from every dot to every other dot.  In the end, I see a spider web rather than a clear picture.

It's not that you're stupid, it's that this season is (imo) needlessly confusing.  I mentioned before that I thought it was a critical error to essentially dump all of the characters that we've grown to understand and then expect us to care about these characters that are almost the same.  This last episode I realized that the other critical error was that they kept Peter the same but took away from him the one humanizing characteristic he had (his relationship with his father) and instead pinned the show on what is essentially a charisma vacuum.  We have Peter without a real relationship with anybody, but used to drive the plot forward without any real grace or storytelling like some sort of blunt instrument.

My worst fear, and my sneaking suspicion, is that this whole season is going to be the longest most frustrating reimagining of It's A Wonderful Life ever done.

I have found this season to be completely riveting.

My greatest hope is that Peter's unique knowledge not only saves these worlds, but that the knowledge he's gaining in these episodes has a huge impact when he arrives home.

I think what definitely has me hung up is that this is still universe A and B, but instead on timeline B.  I keep trying to reconcile the first few episodes to previous seasons and need to forget about that.  I am constantly fighting the thoughts of "ok, but if Peter never existed, how did they learn of this or that since he was crucial to that discovery in season 2".  I guess once Peter gets back in his timeline, it will make the first several episodes of this season pretty pointless and horribly drawn out.  I imagine they will be a chore to trudge through upon re-viewing.  Or maybe not.  There haven't been quite as many as it seems.

Except the implication is that these are essentially all new universes, not just new timelines.  At least that's what Peter seems to believe.

I literally laughed out loud at the stupidity of them going to the quarry in the wrong universe.  Also, Peter questioning the bad guy was just...dumb.  So Peter believes that he's in a totally different universe so he tells the guy the he killed him in another universe?  And they're almost implying the guy knew Peter somehow.  Bah, nevermind.  I'm putting too much thought into this again.

Preview for next Ep.

Looks like it'll be an Observer-centric one.

I guess it depends on whether or not Peter's already home in a universe that's been White Tulipped (yet again) and just he doesn't know it yet.

I hope at the very least that if that is the case, they'll give the creative team as much warning as possible so they can create the best possible ending under the circumstances.

The interview I read with one of the producers said the end of this season is set, but it will work as either a season or series finale.

Every time this thread gets bumped I cry. Still can't access last week's episode. Saturday can't come fast enough.

That was one gigantic truckload of a bomb. I still can't figure out what exactly Nina is trying to do to Olivia...

Yeah, Nina seems genuinely maternal towards Olivia, but drugging someone without their knowledge isn't motherly or even friendly. No clue where that's headed here either.

I liked that Peter seemed to know Olivia was lying about the Observer predicting something. And that he was totally unaware that the infallible Observers hadn't seen Peter's own continued existence coming.

Something to do with cortexafan(sp?) I would assume.

Highlight of the episode was Walter saying he couldn't feel his bladder and then Olivia looking at the floor to see if he left a puddle.

There was something off about Nina this week. Did anyone else notice? She seemed genuinely concerned and shocked when Olivia complained of headaches, and the camera made sure to get her surprised reaction. Also, very emotional when Olivia told her she loved her.

Are we sure that our Nina is the one doing experiments on Olivia? Could it be an alternate?

Also, I'm racking my memory trying to find out if there was a red universe version of Nina in the previous timeline. Was there? I know red universe William Bell died in a car accident, but what about Nina?

Next week's so looks ridiculously awesome, I cannot wait until Blue universe Astrid meets Red universe Aspergers Astrid.

I can't believe people are hating on these past few eps (I'm still one behind you all due to the online lock out). I absolutely loved them. Both scenes with Peter having personal one-on-ones with his alt-dads were highlights. I teared up when he realized that this Walter was very much like his own. And bringing the alt-mom in was a nice touch. She is a great character who has been sidelined to mopey, crying flashbacks for far too long. The introduction of the German baddy is interesting, but mainly because it brings the two Fringe teams together. It's so much fun when they work together. Alt-Broyles as a shapeshifter makes me weep. It'll be twice now that Broyles will end up dead! Whomever said above that Peter was the heart of show is right. Aside from the Walter and Walternate scenes, he's had some great moments with alt-Astrid and Lincoln. I have no idea why The Observer thinks Liv has to die. But I'm crazy enough to think its some Neo shit where she dies, but gets resurrected bigger ad badder due to some ability related to the Cortexaphan trials! In the original timeline Robert Jones wanted to help Liv find her abilities, but I can't recall why (to help him cross over?). Apparently now he's working with Nina presumably to do the same. I have no idea what the end game is, but I'm on board for the ride!

Why would they think Robert would cross over to the other quarry? The hard drive was gotten from an agent who has been living in the B-Universe. Thought having knowledge that there were Shape Shifters on both sides should have at least alerted them that it could be a possibility.

Also it's not implausible for Peter to think Robert was the same guy. He was all scarred up, presumably from crossing over. Whether or not it was true, Peter knowing so much about a version of Robert would be quite unsettling to the guy. Peter was hoping he'd get unnerved and slip up.
