Rugby World Cup 2011 - Page 3

Seems there are moves afoot to raise enough funds to pay the fine the French team have received from the IRB for the way they advanced toward the halfway line to challenge the haka. It may seem strange to non-kiwis but we love it when the opposition faces down the haka in some way, even when they break some IRB rule.

I reckon it's complete horseshit they got fined in the first place,  The island nations have been known to front up and perform their own at the same time in response in the past.  As you said, we RESPECT them fronting up.  And I gotta say, that arrowhead phalanx they started with was fucking badass.  I don't see where this idea that the AB's get to show off some ancestry, heritage and pride while every other nation has to stand there with their balls in a purse somewhere and take it like pussies comes from in the first place.

To be fair, what they were fined for was passing the 10m line rather than the formation or the moving forward. They knew the rule and they decided it was worth breaking. If they had started at the 22 and moved up to the 10 they'd have been ok dokes as far as I can tell.

But it'd be so sweet if enough could be raised in NZ to cover the fine because it was an awesome move on France's part.

I heard that idea mooted (that the kiwis would pay half), if that comes about it will be an absolutely fantastic move by NZ, and show the IRB up for the out of tune, money grabbing arseholes they truly are.

It's not strange at all that kiwis feel this way by the way, it's only logical that when you offer a challenge you'd be satisfied if it was accepted...

I love it when this happens, it's pure theatre! I also doubt very much it was the All Blacks' idea to allow Tonga to start the Sipi Tau first so that they wouldn't start up halfway through the Haka.

Ali Williams went over the line several times in the tournament. Obviously I have no problem with this, but if you're penalising France, you have to hold both sides accountable for infringements.
