Hard Reset

Am I the only one that checked out the demo for this on Steam? It's a "cyberpunk" fps from a Polish developer that's apparently got some staff that used to be with People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) and CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 1&2).

I've played through it a few times and I have to say it's the first "old school" style shooter that I've played in awhile and actually enjoyed. It's pretty strictly run and gun, no iron sights, etc but after about ten minutes I was already wishing Duke Nukem Forever had been half as fun, or as good looking as this.

It opens with some Ashley Woodesque comic panels giving you the run down of wtf is going on and takes off from there. It seems like tame enough sci-fi fair. Men versus machines. The weapons are really cool though. You've got your typical assault rifle and this weird plasma/tesla. laser sort of thing. If you want a shotgun you don't have to drop your assault rifle, you just buy the upgrade and with a roll of the mouse wheel or press of the bound key your rifle morphs into your shotgun and vice versa. The same is said for your laser pistol thingy-ma-bob and the other energy weapons.

That being said, I'll reiterate it's old school. There's no real strategy other than strafe and shoot like a motherfucker. I'm curious what some of my fellow chewers think though. Download that shit on Steam!

No you're not the only one. I went through the demo a couple of times last night. Overall, this is a definite buy for me.  Mostly because I've really been hankering for an FPS that does really mobile fights. Weaving around and through the enemies, circle-strafing kind of fights. Lately the only mobility present in FPS games has been going backwards while firing. Other than that it's been strictly stop and pop. The graphics are very good and also ran without a hiccup on my two and a half year old hardware. The sound design is superb.

I was kind of thinking of going for Dead Island post Warhammer 40K but I think I'll end up getting this.

Loved the demo too. Cheap price on steam made it an easy buy. Yay, explody walls everywhere for everyone! Not many games earn it, but the game plays buttery smooth.

There's a demo out for this now? Awesome. Hard Reset looked pretty interesting to me based on preview coverage, especially the art style. I'll have to check out the demo for myself later.

It's pretty stupid that this looks and runs better than a lot of AAA titles, I guess that shows the difference in a job and a labor of love. I think I'll pre-load this, there are too many giant bosses in the screen shots that desperately need to be shot in their robot faces with my morphing bubble laser gun of blue lightning death.

Yeah man, I feel you on that. I can't say I hate shooters, I play a ton of Battlefield and will continue too but the whole M4, AK, Desert Eagle thing is getting old. Something like this that's just wild running, shooting and looting is sorely missed and I think it's in the right notch for the right price.

Exploding walls are fucking awesome too, especially finding one when one of those big silver gorilla mofuggers is charging at you with murder in his unblinking, red, red eye.

No problem Mr. Singer sir, that's why I come on Chud. I've read about so many great games and movies over the years that I would have overlooked otherwise I feel obligated to throw out a net and drag as many people as I can to their doom. Or at least wasting a few hours kicking the shit out of robots on a game deserving some attention.

Now let's all bitch and pine for how awesome this would be in co-op with even bigger swarms of saw blade belly bots running us down.
