Joe Wright goes from great to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Kind of interested in how Wright does with this because Anna Karenina is my favourite Tolstoy novel but even Bernard Rose couldn't make the book cinematic. Wright's version of Atonement was great and that was an equally difficult adaptation so I'm hoping he'll be able to pull off something great.

Wright's got my attention in general.  P&P and Atonement are both good, despite not generally being my cup of tea.  I flatout love Hanna though.  It will be interesting to see what he does after Anna Karenina.  I hope he continues to diversify his career, at least from time to time.

I was lukewarm on Atonement, and never bothered to see Oscar Bait: The Movie, but Hanna was great, and I unabashedly adore Pride & Prejudice.  Wright and Knightley tackling another literary classic is reason enough to have me excited.

I've never read the novel, but the setting intrigues me as I have a particular fondness for Tsarist Russia. The cast seems solid, and it will be neat seeing Mr Law tackle a Russian role again, seeing as how my first exposure to him came from going to ENEMY AT THE GATES, back in the day. All in all this interests me much more than another Jane Austin adaptation, but I'll have to wait to see what the WOM is before getting my hopes up

PS if only they'd devised a way to rope in Rachel Weisz!
