Web Address Score!

I'm not one for self promotion most of the time (i'm more into the shameless link thing), but I'm getting into the Steadicam business with my friend and was just able to score camera-op.com, camera-ops.com, steadi-op.com and steadi-ops.com.

Don't bother going to those sites yet, I just bought them because I found out they were unclaimed and snapped them up before the rest of the filmmaking world found out about their availability. They probably won't be anything much for a couple of months, I just needed a place to boast about the awesomeness of my discovery as I so rarely get the opportunity to brag.

That is all.

Congrats, I hope this all turns out for you exactly as you've envisioned

Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Los Angeles... poops! Know of any steadycam "learning centers" that aren't NY or NC on the east coast?

I'm getting a very sinister "Wishmaster" vibe from this comment.

So, congratulations. Finding decent, available domains is almost impossible these days, unless it's .money or .cowboy or something silly like that. Good on you for finding .com! How does one go about getting into the Steadicam business? Are you manufacturing them, or renting them, or what? A Steadicam catch-all site?

It's not easy getting into the business. My friend is the op, I'm the tech guy/organizer. I handle the website, the money, and the business stuff like licenses and insurance.

We plan on being an Steadicam Op and equipment rental company.

For those who like being tech geeks here is the website of the most highly regarded* steadicam manufacturer: http://progpi.com/home/

And these guys make the remote focus pulling systems that won't get you kicked off set by the ACs: http://www.prestoncinema.com/

*Each op has his own preference, but Pro is very nearly industry standard.
