Aww did all the Vampire Diaries fans around here jump ship?  COME BACK GUYS/GALS!!!!!

What happened to J.Swanson!?

Elena is dumb. How many times is she going to keep just running head first into almost getting killed? It's exhausting. Who wears shorts on a nature hike? She could have gotten Lupus or something. On top of being chased by werewolf vampires.

I laughed HARD when Damon shoved her ass into the water.  Is she dumb?  I wouldn't say dumb so much as stubborn as hell.

Is anyone around town asking where the fuck Jenna is?!

Solid ep, but Elena's pouting about Stefan would be much more tolerable if Nina Dobrev gave Elena some fucking fire.  She mumbles every single line as Elena and it's sleep-inducing.  Woman up, girl!

Best of tonight's ep was Care Bear's dad trying to torture the gay...err...vampire out of her.  I was beyond relieved when Tyler carried her out of there.  I hate hate HATE seeing my Care Bear in trouble!

The 1920s stuff didn't look as cheesy as I'd feared, though Rebecca's dress should have been fragile and decayed from age, not brand-spanking new, when she awoke at the end.  You don't hop out of a coffin after nearly 100 years and have your outfit remain perfectly intact.  That drove me crazy.  Also, when did Stefan write those victims' names down on the wall, because the ink didn't look faded from age.  Looked fairly recent.  Devil's in the details, production crew!

So they gotta resort to total character assassination to get Elena to fuck Damon?  Cool.

I like snarky evil Stefan. He's a lot more interesting. Cockblocking Damon and Elena all over the house.

Thread Starter

I like him too, but I have to laugh at how the only way she'd hook up with Damon is if Stefan started acting like Damon.

Yeah it's silly, I agree with you. But now Damon and Elena can go off in a corner and give each other wooby eyes and every one else can go do interesting things that are worth watching. Like Matt. Look at him, finally serving a purpose. Until last night, I didn't even know his name. I started watching the second season and for the life of me I've been waiting for him to do something. And he did. It was dumb as hell but I suppose he's just rusty at being useful.

The Damon/Elena agenda continues and Tyler/Caroline are on a collision course with disaster.  How wonderful.

The Originals are boring. Why show someone stabbing his children in the chest when you can just show them waking up after? Good job. Also, needed more Elijah.

I suppose there's a limit to what they can show within the confines of their TV-14 rating.  Can't have stabbings and blood galore.  ALWAYS needs more Elijah.

And VERY slick not showing Katherine to try and make the audience believe that she's dead.  BULLSHIT.  It's gotta be Elena that takes her out.

Also slick not showing the other members of the family. There are what, two or three left that were never seen? Clever clever

I knew it was Katherine during the scene where she was talking to Klaus at the party.  She twitched her mouth in this weird way and the jig was up immediately for me.

Love that I feel more for crybaby Klaus than any of our heroes.

That was a waste of MIchael. They could have done more with that character.

I feel for Klaus too, he's a good actor.

I did not see Elena daggering the sister though, that was pretty unexpected. But why didn't any of them sniff out the difference between Katherine and Elena? That's a little weird.

I don't get why they can't smell a difference, either.  Heightened sense, fellas.  You have 'em.  Use 'em.

Jeremy's dead weight.  Glad he's peaced out, at least for now.

Elena and her constant moping and confused vagina are on my last nerve and have been for some time.  Woman up, bitch.   Though I did appreciate that they had Damon try to act honorable by telling Elena that Stefan wasn't a traitor rather than jumping on her the second she said that she'd be lost without Damon.

And OH MY GOD, they've brought in Meredith!!!!!!!

I'm glad Jeremy is gone too. Although he was getting interesting towards the end. Jeremy and Rebecca are a good start with the losing dead weight. They're juggling a lot of characters right now.  Although if they're going to talk up two shocking deaths, having one guy come back and having another never wake up from being dead then re-deaded doesn't really count.

Also I thought Elena was living at Damon's house.

Why is Meredith important?

Technically, Damon's house is HER house.  They signed it over to her so that she could control who got invited in during the initial Klaus siege, but since she died during the ritual, the thing about vamps not being able to get in got lifted.  She pretty much comes and goes between the two residences as she pleases.  And I don't get how she pays the bills in her original home, seeing as how Jenna is DEAD and not bringing in income, Jeremy's job probably paid him peanuts, and Elena is too busy sucking face with Damon and moping about to get a job.  And no one in town has ONCE asked where Jenna is.

She's a major character from the book series, and a big time fan favorite.  She scares the SHIT out of Damon.  And the actress playing her?  Paul Wesley (Stefan)'s wife!

I'm not surprised no one asked where Jenna was. They had a decapitated person on the porch for a good few minutes and that kid got hit by a car and no one said anything. Their neighbors can't be that unobservant. It's probably like, everyone knows exactly what's going on in that house and everyone has decided to just ignore it for their own sanity. Otherwise they are just terrible people.

I just pumped my fists into the air so fuckking hard at that ending that I may have dislocated something.  FUCK YEAH ELIJAH!!!!!!!

Klaus just really isn't scary at all. I don't know if it's the acting or the directing but a billion year old bad ass vampire shouldn't be Justin Timberlake levels of punk ass bitch.

Thread Starter

He was scary leading up to the sacrifice.  Now that he's gotten basically what he wants, he's spinning his wheels.

They passed up a great moment for a killer scene by having Elena mope her way through confessing that she kissed Damon.  After what Stefan did to her last week, she should've said it with sadistic glee.  "Yeah, I kissed him, AND I LIKED IT.  And even in his worst moment, he would NEVER do to me what you did.  We're done."  Instead, they have her act guilty.  WHY?  They aren't a couple anymore.  You are free and clear.  Shit or get off the pot already.  Stop having her act so goddamn pious all the time.  Give this girl some sense of dimension, depth, something.

And I know Damon has done equal or worse to her in his worst moment, but that's not the point.  Elena needs to get her Katherine-game face on.

I'm gonna be honest and say I fast forwarded through that. They bore me a little bit now. I keep trying to stop but they keep sucking. Stefan might be hotter evil but he sucks at it. Damon is better at being evil by far.

And if I wanted something from my long last mom, I wouldn't be near as rude as Bonnie. She's got an attitude problem.

Bonnie was pissed that her mother abandoned her yet became a mother to some kid who isn't even related to her.  That moment where she picked up his graduation picture with a look of utter incredulity on her face spoke volumes.  She's got a right to be rude.

Loved this episode, no doubt.  Bonnie has every right to be pissed, and let's face it, family drama is the heart of this show, be it Klaus, Bonnie, Elena or the boys.

Loved seeing Elijah at the end!  The dysfunctional family dynamic of the originals really does draw me in :)

As for Stephen and Elena, let's be honest, as much as we all may hate it, they are the Edward and Bella of this show and that's just the way it is.

Wolf boy may just be the wild card, which I like, HRG is gonna get his head right, and Caroline is still the best part of the show, even though they've been screwing her on screen time lately.

Thread Starter

Caroline is gonna get increased screen time, methinks.  Klaus is gonna make a play for her, big time.

Caroline should be the lynch pin of this show because she is the best character on it!  Not to denigrate the rest of them, but I heart her

"The worst thing for Elena Gilbert is the two of you."  Yeah, no shit.

So Elena comes home to a dark house AS MATT IS TELLING HER HOW FUCKED UP THIS TOWN IS, after everything that she's been through, she isn't immediately on edge when she sees that the lights are out?  She doesn't immediately evacuate that goddamn house?  She just strolls on up the stairs like nothing is wrong?  What a fucking idiot.  Klaus ain't kidding.  She needs him around to save her from herself.  What a fucking idiot.

I wish I cared about Care Bear's dad enough to be moved by his death.  I don't.

Cool episode, even if predicting Mom coming back was obvious.

You know why I like this show?  Things happen.  The story advances and the situation changes.  I get really tired of shows that try to maintain a single mystery and never really do anything with it.  The amount of things happening in this show is great, it doesn't sit on one central idea with no real payoff.  *cough*LOST*cough*

I don't care so much about Care Bear's dad as I care about her and the effect is has on her, and even her mom.  And Elena being stupid is pretty much her defining trait, but at least she knows enough to wack Alaric anytime he gets in trouble.  Very intrigued to see what goes down with The Family.

So glad Elijah is back.  Neither Salvatore brother does it for me, but holy fuck Elijah makes me think naughty thoughts.

All of the Originals on the prowl is going to be fun, especially considering that Rebecca stated outright at the episode's climax that she wants Elena dead.

Thread Starter

Solid ep.  I think Elijah knew that Elena was lying to him.  He's got it like that.  Damon going off the rails AGAIN is getting so goddamn tired.  CareBear and Klaus was the best stuff of the episode, although they looked stiff as hell on the dance floor.  Somebody skipped their lessons!  It was also awkward how she goes from storming away from him (and the horsey!) outside to willingly strolling around with him inside when he shows her the artwork.  If she was so pissed, why would she consent to a private tour by him only a few minutes later?  Weird.  I had a feeling Matt was safe, because whenever someone announces their grand plan to kill someone on this show, it never works out.  If/when he dies, it's going to be an unannounced shock death.  Where the fuck did Elena get that expensive dress on such short notice?  With what money?  And who is paying her bills now that Jenna is dead?  And why has NO ONE in town ONCE questioned her about where Jenna is?

Love how NO ONE at the ball questions the fact that Elijah's mother looks not even ten years older than him.  Oh, Mystic Falls, never change!

Ah!  I almost read that before I realized you get the east coast feed and I get the west.  See you in a couple hours.

Whoops!  Sorry!

Not your fault!  My bad for checking forums before their time :)  I dug this episode, I'm totally loving the grand family being decadent.  I just figured Elena dipped into to one of the vampire family closets, though it doesn't make much sense now that I think about it.

I like that the grand family is showing some chinks in the armor, and that they're not as cut and dry evil as the Salvatore's believe.  I think the spell that tied them all together will serve to keep them alive, and despite the preview, Elijah is the cornerstone of that.  They strike me as a group of kids given massive power, and they have abused it like you would expect, but they can learn not to be totally corrupted.  Especially since they're all newly awake, hell, even Rebeccah got a bite of conscience in a few short minutes.  We'll see, but I totally agree with Klaus when it comes to Carebear, she could definitely tempt an immortal god to be a better man.  I don't think the end result is the royal family's death, but we shall see.

Who is this Jenna you speak of?  LOL, yeah, it's pretty darn silly they haven't even played lip service to her disappearance.

I didn't like Elena's dress at all. Weird color.

Yeah I hope Elijah is going to come out of this ok. The others, meh. I'm curious about the older one who was in on the Mother's plan. What an ass.

Where was Bonnie?

I wouldn't wear it, but I thought it looked good on her.

There's too many of them.  I don't even know all of their names.

Black people don't get invited to parties on this show.  They're here to die.  That's it.

Also, this show has one of the best soundtracks on TV.  The song that plays when Elena enters the ball has been stuck in my head all goddamn day.

Though a bit less so these days compared to the first couple seasons, Supernatural owns that crown.

Interesting, almost like a mid season finale, it seems the first family has been dealt with for the time being.  Klaus is still a supreme being, though I can't tell if the "tie them all together" spell is still in effect, so I'm curious to see what he and Rebecca get into.

Liked seeing Cassidy Freeman in the preview for next week's episode, it's been so all or nothing lately, I'd like to see a few stand alone/fallout episodes for a few weeks.

It's like I have a "shitty episode" alert, because something told me to not bother watching Thursday's ep when it went out live.  I didn't like this episode very much.  If I were Bonnie, I'd say a big FUCK YOU ELENA and split town.  Elijah does not look at suave with that butchered haircut.  Whose dumb idea was that?

And am I the only one who remembers her distant cousin Lucy from the fucking masquerade episode last season?!  Are they ever gonna bring her back?!  What the fuck!

Get over it, Rebecca.  Seriously.  Why would anyone want to like you, anyway?  You're a cunt.

Harley, you're not the only one who still remembers Lucy.  All the talk about mother and daughter continuing the bloodline of Bennett witches made me wonder why no one was bringing her up or if Williamson and Plec had completely forgotten about her. I really hope not since 1) she seemed like a really interesting character with potential, even from the few minutes of screen time she got and 2) the last thing this show needs more of is crappy and/or minimal representation of Black people.

Thread Starter

My "shitty episode alert" went off in my head a few minutes before showtime, but I ignored it.  I chose...poorly.  What a boring fucking episode.  Fucking boring.

Damon's lace-front was showing during all the flashbacks.  Distracting as fuck.

Ian Somerhalder has shitty skin.  He wears a shit-ton of makeup, but I can still see pockmarks like a motherfucker all over his cheeks.  HD is not his friend.

Confused about the ring business at the end.

Not kidding about that alert, by the way.  I legit get a sinking feeling that a tidal wave of suck is coming my way with this show sometimes, and I'm ALWAYS right.

This whole season has been a mess, sadly. I thought maybe it was because Kevin Williamson left, but his new show, The Secret Circle is even shittier, so that can't be it. There's no real plot this season. Elena's back and forth between Damon and Stefan is boring. Obviously Klaus failed as a villain, and now apparently this season's big bad is a tree. I do like some of the Originals, but as a whole they kind of took over the show.

Thread Starter

It's like they threw everything they had into Season 2 to top Season One, and now that they've gotten us hooked, they've fallen into complacency. Complacency is never good.

I didn't think it was too bad. Maybe I didn't mind it so much because there was no stupid boring Klaus drawing horses and crying. I'm hoping this season is the last we see of The Originals and next season they get back to focusing on the character's that are the shows strength. I've got a feeling Alaric is on the donezo list though, which makes me sad. I'll miss his hair. http://www.tvfanatic.com/2012/03/matt-davis-cast-as-lead-in-cw-cult-pilot/

Elijah is always welcome on the show though. He's such a suave character. Villian or not.

Yeah, I love Elijah, though that's due more to how the actor plays him than the character itself.  I remember when he was a total badass last season, smashing windows with coins, stabbing Damon with a pencil, and ripping out hearts. He hasn't really done anything very interesting since his resurrection this season besides write Elena a love letter.

Klaus in an example of Sylar Syndrome. Introduce a big bad at the end of the season, make him immortal, then have the characters scrambling around thinking of ways to kill him when the dude is drawing pictures of horsies to impress a newborn teenage vampire instead of doing anything villain-y.

Oh, and apparently Julie Plec had a meltdown on Twitter when a couple of fans questioned why Bonnie doesn't have a legitimate love interest, or you know, a storyline that suggests she's an actual character instead of a plot device. She reminds me of a poor man's Stephenie Meyer; she comes across as an unprofessional hack who'd rather spend her time fangirling the actors on her show instead of writing a decent episode.

How Julie Plec Just Confirmed What's Wrong With This Season

It's sad when the behind the scenes stuff is more interesting than the show itself this season.
