The first batch of new TV shows bring Buffy back (yay!) as well as Giles; there’s also some deeply depressed adults, Will Arnett and Christina Applegate squeeze one out, and a group of kids play with magic.

None of these interest me, and only serve to remind me why I've given up on network television

Ehh hate to admit it but I might be able to get into that Secret Circle show. I really liked The Craft so it's kind of up my alley. Not to mention the CW has been producing some good shows. Supernatural has been solid(except last season) and Nikita ended up being pretty fucking good. And to my surprise I hear the Vampire Diaries might actually be worth watching.

Natalia Castro, I am sure there will be a Post Count...Bounce, when your column previews...The Playboy Club!  Are Charlie's...ANGELic Detectives, to be covered as well?

I'm trying out my sister's Hulu Plus account over XBox live, because Netflix is twenty goddamned dollars now and I'm wondering if I should switch.

This is the first time in years I've watched brand new network TV shows. Holy fuck, I haven't missed anything. New Girl has completely turned me off to Zooey Dechanel. She's actually starting to look like her husband. Up All Night would be vastly improved if it was just about Will Arnet being a single father, and I wish Maya Rudolph would just fucking stop already.

And Hulu plus blows, by the way. It's a pay service and you still have to sit through commercials -- and half the shows I want to watch are web only. What the hell is the deal there?

So did anybody else check out New Girl?

I've to admit seeing Zooey Dechanel in a weekly sitcom has me intrigued.

felix, I thought Alice (Linda Lavin) was The...New Girl, in Town!  I will not be seeing...New Girl anytime soon.  Maybe I will watch it  on the...32nd of August!  I am watching...NBC's The Playboy Club, and ABC's Charlies Angels and Pan Am.  Of the animated series, I am most...X-Cited for...X-Men Anime on October 21st on G4, and whenever they decide to air...Blade Anime!

Network TV has gotten so bad that I'm only trying the pilots of two shows: Terra Nova and Person of Interest. I have little hope for either. It's pretty bad when entire networks can't put up a single new show worth watching once.

Looking at the shows that are likely ending this season, there's a decent chance I won't watch a single network show next season. And I LOVE TV - I think it's a superior storytelling format to movies. I guess I should amend that to CABLE TV...

Problem with that show is Zooey is this sweet, wacky girl, and these three frat dudes (including the intolerable Jake Johnson) are supposed to My Fair Lady her. So she does something kinda funny, and they say, You shouldn't do that if you want to meet men! And the show continues to not resemble any form of reality ever. The pilot was directed by Jake Kasdan, which explains why it's probably more watchable than some of the other new shows.

Caught Up All Night. Glad Will Arnett might have a hit, and I didn't suffer much, but by the end of the first episode, I was already tired of the whole "being a parent sucks" routine. I would have made this bet in July, but why not one more time: Free Agents and Whitney get cancelled, and Up All Night moves to Thursday at 9:30 within a month.

New Girl seemed to do fairly well in the ratings. I think the Glee train is almost over though. Season 4 should be its last.
