It’s good to be the brother of Thor.

Personally, and with no malicious feelings directed at Hemsworth himself, I hope they kill him off quick and let the old guys fight it out like they should have in the original.

Instead of this guy being part of the main group, Sly should have a "prospect" system like in the TV show Sons of Anarchy. The young prettyboy follows them around, making them coffee and doing all the shit work that the rest of the Expendables don't want to do. Then, just before he becomes an official member of the team he gets knifed trying to save a baby

Liam was actually going to be a part of the first film, but never ended up signing on because his character was cut from the script during rewrites.  Looks like Sly decided to finally include him this time 'round.

Robert Knepper was another actor "attached" to the first one whose character was cut.  He was to play a gay member of the team, if I remember correctly.  Since he just signed on to be in RIPD, I doubt he'll be participating this time out either.  Maybe Expendables 3?

Anyway, I'm still banking on some of the members of the original team getting bumped off near the start of the film (Rourke and Li are most likely)..............necessitating Sly and the remaining crew to find replacements.  As for the rest of the ever growing cast?  Van Damme is supposed to have his own team of mercs, so those roles will be filled out with as many B and C grade action stars as Lerner can find.  Also, Arnold and Chuck Norris are likely only appearing in nothing more than extended cameos at best.........so it isn't like either will take up a lot of screen time.  Hell, maybe Chuck will get a cameo similar to the best one in X-Men: First Class?

I thought Rourke's murder had already been confirmed as the impetus for the team's mission in this one.

According to Stallone, that leaked synopsis (Tool murdered, his daughter seeks vengeance with help of the team, etc.) was incorrect.  He failed to mention exactly how incorrect it was though (100%?  50%?  25%?).

I'll reserve judgment.  I recall folks going mildly apeshit over the news that Rambo was going to be "assisted by a team of mercs" in the last Rambo film to grace theaters, and that actually turned out pretty awesome.

And they can't kill Li!  Gotta have a JCVD vs. Jet Li throwdown! (yeah, I know...I still want to see it, though!)

Li's Yin Yang biting the dust is pure speculation on my part.............................and mainly due to the fact that he will only be available for the China portion of the shoot and apparently didn't even want to come back in the first place.  Seems as good a reason as any to have his character kick the bucket in my eyes and it will add an element of danger for the team that was missing the first time around.

Jmacq1, Well if...JCVD fights Jet Li, and makes his character Yin Yang....Expendable, then problem solved!
