Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen

Wow guess the roasts are going downhill when there isn't even a thread here about it. Much like the last roast this one felt "off". Stand out though is Amy Schumer. She had the best lines of the night.

"Your just like Bruce Willis, you were big in the 80's and now your old slot is being filled with Ashton Kutcher."

"You were amazing in Platoon. Your marriage to Denise Richards, it was kind of like her Vietnam because she was constantly afraid of being killed by Charlie "

"But there is no denying how famous you are. I mean it was international news when you ruined the lives of those two girls living with you. Ya know, your daughters?"

And the meanest: "I truly am, no jokes, sorry for your friend Ryan Dunn I know you must have been thinking it could have been me, and I know we were all thinking, why wasn't it?"

Other than that it fell flat. With Lisa Lampanelli moving on and Greg Giraldo dead these things are seriously lacking.

Best part of it was Mike Tyson's exaggerated (?) reactions to some of the jokes. Aside from that it was a bit hit and miss.

Shame on Richard Kind for laughing at that one Michael J. Fox line.

Amy Schumer's bit was the only time I laughed. The most interesting part of this is the internet's uproar over her mentioning Ryan Dunn.

Sad to see Charlie Sheen put up with this. He was in PLATOON and WALL STREET

Outside of Jeff Ross that sucked. Did like Tyson's line about both him and MacFarlane stealing from "Homer."

And why the hell did they keep panning to Dog the Bounty Hunter in the audience.

Call me crazy, but I really liked it, with the exception of Steve-O's bit.  The line about God hating Michael J Fox had me ROFLing.

Amy Schumer - never heard of her before this, but man, was she great.  Brutal.  Seth McFarlane was also good.  Jeff Ross was probably the best of them all.  Mike Tyson was entertaining, not because his jokes were good, but because he's Mike Tyson.  He's almost like Shatner where he's become a parody of himself.

Also, Shatner is 80???  He doesn't look it, man.

I was entertained for the whole hour though.  Felt like it was a good roast.

It's sad to watch Platoon and Wall Street and then think of his current antics.

This was a really good roast. Some hilarious lines all around. Jeff Ross wins it for me though.

Decent joke, but his reaction really made it for me. He looked like he was about to start crying.

Good roast, not a great one. Say whatever you want about Charlie Sheen, but the guy is an amazingly good sport (some really low blows there).

It also wasn't really a shot at Ryan Dunn. It was a shot at Steve O...........right through the heart!

I have to say..... I completely disagree, MBN. His public emancipation from the shackles of politically correct self loathing has been nothing less than thrilling. Our hypocritical society demands of those who have too much fun that they spend their lives apologizing, consumed with doubt, lest anyone get jealous. Charlie played that game, until one day he'd had enough. With his interview that February afternoon, he shot to the top of my radar in a way I wouldn't have imagined possible. It was the first time for years that I've given a damn about Charlie Sheen. Before, I thought he was a guy whose career kind of fizzled out, ending in a string of forgettable - if popular - sitcoms. Now I think him as nothing less than one of the most iconic individualists in American pop culture history. There is narcissism.. and then there is false humility. I cannot stomach the later and *when it's justified*, I admire the hell out of the former

His full force assault on CBS and TWO AND A HALF MEN was not unprovoked. His coworker's snide, sanctimonious bullshit (Levine's comments about "outliving Charlie", for example) deserved exactly the response he gave it. There was no "morality clause" in his contract, and what he did on his own time was never any of their business. TWO AND A HALF MEN was doing better than ever, but still they felt entitled to yuk it up at his expense. Anyone else in Hollywood would just lick their wounds and feel grateful to have such a well paying job. I am certain none of the 2.5 MEN brass expected an ounce of blowback, nor could they envision that he'd call their bluff by means of scorched earth total war. He didn't just burn his bridges, he - to borrow imagery from APOCALYPSE - napalmed them without mercy or remorse. He said things about those people that, for all of their high minded hand wringing, must have hurt on a deep level. For everyone who says Charlie was saying things that "made no sense" or were "crazy", I say that he was speaking with a kind of super sanity, and it was completely fucking hilarious

You're only on this planet for a few years, and then you're dead and gone

By 20, Charlie had already done something unequivocal. What he did, with his work in PLATOON and WALSTREET, will echo an eternity and his place in film history has been secured. No matter what else he does with his life, he is still the guy who achieved acting immortality at an age when most toil as day laborers on LAW AND ORDER

When he cast aside middle America's Kentucky Fried Puritanism and threw it back in their faces, he did something else that will never be forgotten

If Charlie truly was making "no sense", no one would still be talking about him these months later. Utter nonsense isn't that interesting. The problem is that what Charlie said caused people to look inward, and not everyone liked what they saw. How could they? Most people live their lives trying to fit into a box. Sheen showed us that some were never intended for boxing in the first place

And that brings me to the roast. Who are these jokesters that they're so much better than Sheen? On the subject of those fame hungry enough to get up on stage and beg for laughs with humor about Charlie's kids, I will paraphrase my own remarks from another thread: in five years the public will have forgotten them entirely, while hundreds of years in the future people will still be watching PLATOON. In the end, even their decedents will struggle to put a name to the face found in dusty albums of ancient family photos. PLATOON, meanwhile, will be seeing it's 200th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTOR'S EDITION with revamped picture and sound

While my trip to Sheen's VIOLENT TORPEDO OF TRUTH ultimately was a disappointment (the crowd's fault -- there are just as many morons among Sheen's fans as there are in the ranks of his enemies), I am still glad our paths crossed. His comments about his life philosophy have had a great impact on me these past months, and I thank him for risking his career to get the message out there

His life philosophy?!!!  You mean being born a spoiled brat and acting like a insufferable teenager well into his middle age years?

Yeah, the guys a real Aristotle.

He explained his thoughts with clarity and erudition over the course of those two weeks of interviews

I advise you listen to what he had to say in full, rather than juicy soundbites pulled out of context

Just my take, but that is how I see it

Not taking away from Sheen's talent as an actor or self-publicist, but let's face it, the guy is a lunatic.  It's easy to spout philosophical when you're from Hollywood Royalty and your family name and money can get you out of any trouble you get yourself in.  The fact is, Charlie Sheen has never had to be held responsible for anything in his life.  If a normal person lived like him, they'd be in jail tomorrow.

That said, his rants are pretty entertaining.  Just don't take them to heart.  You wanna listen to a celebrity who has a great philosophy, check out Arnold Schwartzeneggar.  His philosophy is the shit.

He was never really in a Platoon or on Wall Street.  All in his mind.  Perhaps actors sacrifice themselves too much for our entertainment?  They are just silly humans and it is possible to biochemically lose your brain with or without different chemicals to help you along.  It's been done before.  Maybe OSHA should regulate the industry better?

Sheen is just a douche bag with delusions of grandeur. He may be more theatrical than most, but he is still just a dime a dozen.

Shatner was awesome!
