NEW GIRL- Zooey deschanel's show - Page 4

Deschanel is a distant fifth on this show after the guys and Cece. Even coach made ne laugh. They were cheap laughs but they were laughs nonetheless.

I'm convinced Winston is the secret weapon on this show.  People point to Schmidt, and I do like him, but he's like Barney on How I Met Your Mother - could go really wrong, really fast. But the tag of Winston singing "Groove is in the heart was wonderful stuff. If they ever figure out how to use him properly and consistently (cause right now he makes the MOST out of the scraps they give him), this show could become greatness, despite Zooey.

I'm not the first to point this out, but Winston could have had a great ep this week, about his mom comparing him unfavorably to his sister who is an employed pro basketball player. Unfortunately that whole subplot got completely backgrounded.

Agreed.

The one two punch of calling Schmidt "the bad guy from an 80s high school movie" and Tagg Romney was just greatness.

Laugh out loud funny last night. It amuses me how Schmidt tries to pull off a Barney Stinson from HIMYM and instead of bedding the girl, he gets pop quizzed by a group of Romney Supporters.

That's why New Girl is funnier.

I'm also finding Jess' casual sex guy to have some funny lines as well. Don't know how long he will be around, but his last line of the episode made me laugh out loud.

Yeah, really awesome episode last night.  It was firing on all cylinders.  And just about any character that matters got a laugh out of me.

Ruining the line, but, "In the Romney-Olympics all the winning runners are white."

The show has been hitting pretty well so far this season, the Schmidt-Winston pairing was great, I'd like to see more.

Really hoping we don't get any Nick/Jess shipping.

The Thomas Jefferson simul-rant was amazing.

Holy shit. Even with the silly Jess stuff I laughed my ass off. So many one liners and funny bits. I loved the dialogue in this episode so much.

I hafta watch these episodes twice just to catch everything.  But honestly the visual of Schmidt pulling his "too long" pants up over his belly button had me rolling. So funny.

Deschanel should wear shorter skirts.

Funny episode.

They're hitting their stride on this show.  This most recent ep was VERY funny.

"Tonight I drink with mouth."

At first I thought the whole cookie gesture was a prank waiting to happen.. and just like Nick, when I realized that it was indeed just a cookie, the episode took an amazing turn for the awesome.

Good episode, and I loved Jess' attempt at becoming a model. It kind of had that I Love Lucy feel that actually worked.

That was uncharacteristically funny work from Deschanel. I'm not used to finding her parts of this to be the funniest. I loved that bit and Cece's reaction to it. "You made it look much more difficult than it really is."

Dammit.  I hate Comcast.  A new episode did not record for me last night.

ETA: Ok, watched it.  Hilarious.  My wife was cracking up at the modeling bit.  I just do not connect much with what the ladies are given on the show, but the guys.  Their dialogue (helped by great delivery) just elevates this show for me.  Excellent season thus far.

well I could watch Nick in a Haunted House all day. That was the hardest I've laughed in a long time.

Absolutely agreed neaux.  Of course, my memory blows, but there was a particular line that was especially hilarious last night, but an internet search is not helping me.

"He's a doctor? I was sure he'd turn out to be a part-time tennis pro, or an unemployed... handsome guy."

"What have you been eating?"

"Braaains"

Schmidt's uniquely aggressive passive-aggression, and the whole denied head-butt thing.

Y'know, I consider myself a gentleman and it is for that very reason I cannot pretend that "Carla Gugino as a high-powered executive who is secretly a dominatrix but is adorably insecure about it" doesn't push every last one of my buttons.

and now I can watch Nick with magical old asian guy Tran all day long too. And the flute lady can come along too.

This episode kind of reminds me of how Nick deals with Future old drunk homeless man Nick.

The best part of the episode was Winston's reveal. I think I almost teared up.

I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the Nick/Tran scene in the pool.  Although I love Schmidt's cracks, I just fucking love Nick.  He reminds me of myself a lot.  I am cranky as hell.  I am also an asshole.

Nick's turtle face never gets less funny. If someone can find an inmage of Nick's turtle face while being cradled like a baby in the pool, I would be forever indebted to you!

Edit: Nm

Not quite the full turtle face, but...

The thanksgiving episode wasn't the funniest, but I did enjoy Reiner and Curtis together.

Was a little dry at first - especially since it was focused around Jess.  However, once the boys started up I was grinning ear to ear.  Schmidt's vagina expertise demonstration was amazing.  Nick putting a word search in his book was fantastic.

I really enjoyed the episode picking up and snowballing into awesome near the end.

"Yeah, that's exactly what I do. I call that, 'Losing Nemo'.

No no I see what you're doing-- that asymmetry right there? That's crucial, 'cause then what I'll do is, is I'll go outside, get the paper, and shake the neighbor's hand. Then what I'll do is I'll tie a bow on it, because it's Birthday Time. Then I get onstage and collect my Oscar and say 'thank you to the people, thank you to the people' then get back down offstage and get everybody into the Sharing Circle. Right down in there in the Sharing Circle and then (BAM) ...spike the volleyball. Then what I like to do is? I like to arrive at the bridge, an' meet the troll and then answer his Riddles Three. And then what we do is we're dancin'. We're just gonna dance, we're gonna dance for a while, 'til ya can't dance anymore, 'til ya CAN'T DANCE. ANY. MORE and then everybody... gets... a Churro."

while going to the Zoo drunk wasn't really funny, Nick's book was indeed outstanding if only for Winston's excellent reading.

Schmidt's "Vagenius" demo was utterly stunning.  And only surpassed by Winston's reading of the book.

Damn it, that's right where the DVR cut off.

"My hormones are clearly not as gay as I am." Schmidt is the best.

And they finally found something for Winston to do. Of course it's playing straight man to Nick but it's better than doing nothing.

"Never stop reading this book" - Schmidt to Winston.  Yes, I agree.  Winston, keep on reading that book because that sir, was GOLDEN.

What I love most about this show, is that the characters, no matter how minor, are likable.  I wouldn't mind hanging out and having beers with them.  Of course, it'd probably be best to be having my beer alone in some corner so I can just watch what absurdity they all get involved with.  But, still.....

"Zombie zoo, zombie zoo.  Zombie zoo, zombie zoo.  Who let them zombies out that damn zombie zoo?"

And yeah, Mike Sr. totally sucks.

Well, to be fair, that WAS a main plot point in the story.  Apparently.

Oh Young Winston getting the willies and stripping to his underwear made me laugh waaay too hard.

I'll take more Winston/Jess storylines anytime.

I know we we're supposed to hate her, but Olivia Munn is adorable.

I also like the Jess/Winston pairing. Not the funniest episode but it had its moments.

I find it fundamentally impossible to hate Olivia Munn.

Neckbeards and internet shut-ins are only supposed to hate Munn. I think she's swell. With her and Lizzy Caplan the dude playing Nick hit the jackpot in the fake make-out lottery.

However I kinda hate Cece. At least I hate what happened to Schmidt. I understand her but I hate her.

I never understood the Munn hate. I watched this show for the first time because she was on it, and (A) she was great and (B) I now have a new funny show to watch!

Munn is wonderful on The Newsroom, one of the few parts of that show that really work.

I don't know who hates Olivia Munn? I'd say 99% off all guys would probably give her a thumbs up.

I thought she was super on New Girl and hope she stays for a couple of episodes or three or four.

Fixed.

I found her "character" on Attack of the Show a bit annoying, but I still found her ridiculous hot.  Now that I see she can truly act, well, yeah. I'll be in bathroom for a while...excuse me.

I guess only women are supposed to hate her. http://www.salon.com/2010/07/08/olivia_munn_interview/

In any case after her sexy photos leaked, I only found her more likeable after her humorous response to the whole thing.

I thought Munn was great and there was a genuine and quirky chemistry between her and Nick.  Which was charming.

And poor Schmidt.  I'm actually kinda mad at CeCe.

"Happy Hanukkah, Schmidt."

"Happy Moon Festival, CeCe."

"Nope, not a thing."

So-so episode, but Deschanel made me laugh and that gets points.  Nick dancing was funny, however Schmidt dancing was hysterical.

Munn stirs my feelings. She wore the fuck out of that short dress. The thought of her performing a lapdance is making me dizzy.

Not a funny episode, though. Except for Jess bumping into the glass doors.

"I'm not just some vehicle you can ride to pleasure town. Be gone Honky." That made me laugh.... hysterically.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas episode, especially how it jumped from party to party.

We now know two of Nick's nightmares..  from the haunted house and caught with his pants down in public.

Other muses: I don't know what was sexier, Olivia Munn's dance or Schmidt's.

Black Santa is real.

Transporter movie shout outs make me happy.

Nah there were plenty of nerds who had it in for Munn. Basically it's that same self-loathing, misogyny-laden bullshit about "fake girl gamers." which is why gamers bitched and moaned about her when she was a host on AOTS.
