Re-Animator

Yeah yeah I know I could have posted this somewhere else but I didn't. Anyway here goes my story.

Mpmh...I said to myself opening up the coverbox, this video casset has no sticker on it, maybe it just fell off i thought. ( trying to avoid the possability that this was recorded ) I put Re-Animator into the vcr and sat down to begin to watch this really good movie. I couldn't help but notice in the top left corner it said Laserdisc and then in the top right corner it said play...strange..( still hoping this was not a dub copy I carried on. ) Oh shit I thought pulling my blanket over my head trying to protect myself from the dime size hail stones flying off my tv screen. No way it can't be...can it? I was suckered into buying a copy of Re-Animator that was recorded off something else..oh man this sucks! None the less I pressed on...In somewhere about the middle of the movie Herbert Wess is hit from behind with the guy who has no head....
..Black Screen...
What?!..
The scene that comes up next is this guy looking through a filing cabinet...did I miss anything or is this correct? After that the hail storm came to a slow but never ending round of flurries. I thought what the heck and put some salt around the T.V. just to be a little cautious. I watched the rest of the movie with no interuptions and even got to see some deleated scenes? and teaser trailers after the movie was done. I overall liked it. The gore was good not overly done, but just right. The storyline kept me interested and I enjoyed the dark comedy. I think I'm going to buy the elite special edition when it comes out at the end of this month, as for the copy I have now..well I'll keep it for a warm sunny day, that way I wont have to get out a shovel or anything.

Sounds to me like this is a rip from the laserdisc release. The black screen could be from a break in the movie where you were supposed to flip the disc (I don't know laserdisc that well, so I have no idea if they were flippable or not). Invest in a proper DVD release - Re-Animator is a classic and well worth having. The sequel's OK as well. And if you liked Re-Animator, you should probably hunt out a copy of Frankenhooker. That's very similar in tone and humour.

Well, not necessarily.

If I had some trepidation about buying a movie in the first place (though if ya don't like Re-Animator I'd call the white coats...), opting for a video before shelling out for the DVD isn't a bad idea, and so far as I know Re-Animator's out of print on VHS, and not widescreen etc.

So, a dupe of the LD isn't too bad because of the extras and the widescreen, besides, it was pretty cheap right?

My version was pretty cheap I guess, only eight dollars. Then again maybe thats alot of money to some people? On the front it reads Un-rated. On the back it reads...( this is the part where I put my stupid sign around my neck...you know, where's your sign? ) This is a remastered, widescreen print recorded directly from a laserdisc release. There is a supplemental section after the main feature. Uncut and Uncensored. Well I guess that goes to show how much I pay attention but heck with eyes like these who needs glasses, I know a dub copy of something like I know the back of my hand...mhmp that's weird I've never seen that before..
