The studio is looking at the biggest and best names in town for a non-anthology reboot...

Good news. Hope it works. Question though what happened to that Midnight horror anthology series M. Night Shyamalan was doing (Devil anyone?) because this sounds a lot like that.

That's too much talent to only cherry pick one out of. Give all four the same treatment script for a short story, let each remake/rewrite as they see fit, release the result. Everybody wins.

Besides Cuaron, I don't think either of them would be suitable choices.

Cuaron and Nolan are interesting, the other two, not so much. BTW: may I suggest Campbell Scott as THE HOST?

Holy shit, that's a great idea. It'll never happen, but it would be really cool if it did.

Having said that, I don't want Nolan doing it. I'd rather he do something original or take on an existing property (ala PRESTIGE) that really fires him up creatively.  TDKR is going to have really suck to negate the goodwill/leeway he has at WB, and I'd prefer to see him apply his skill to something he loves, rather than the studio's project of the week.

I agree.

Rod Serling being dead and all, the WB should understand that necrophilia is still illegal in this country. I guess this single film, or more appropriately its title, would serve as a banner for similarly minded films in the future? On one hand, and by studio logic, that seems like a reasonably safe way to tout out certain risky genre projects and I guess I can get behind that (if that's the thing), on the other hand, take your dick out of what's left of Serling's ass.

With all those TV Shows though hasn't Serling always had one in there?

A feature -length TZ in a non-anthology format...? Even Serling switched back to half hour episodes after a lukewarm fourth season in which the hour-long format proved incompatible with the sorts of stories he, Matheson and Beaumont were trying to tell.

I think there were some good hour long TZs, but that's just me

I think there is at least one more entry on the way, but who knows where it will go after that.  The Last Airbender flopping certainly didn't help anything when it comes to viewing M. Night as a brand.  Neither did the fact that many actually STAYED AWAY from Devil because he was associated with it.  Unless his movie with Will Smith & Son makes some dough when it comes out in a couple of years, I'd say he has pretty much buried his career.

One can hope. The man became a one note fiddle.
