The Fades on BBC Three

I feel like I'm starting a discussion on Misfits again. Please tell me some chewers are out there watching this great show. The wife and I found it to be genuinely creepy at points and it sure as hell would need to be edited if it was ever shown here in the States.

I will be joining you soon. I just located the first 2 episodes and I plan to watch them soon, this is right up my alley. Only 2 have aired right?

I've seen the first 2. It's okay.

Alright I finally got to the 2 episodes. To echo murder...not bad. His friend is bothering me just a bit....but just a bit. I will say they do have me curious as to where exactly this is all headed. Although did they use the word angelics in the pilot? Because in the second episode they say it a few times and I have no idea how he knew what their little order was called.

Also donde I don't think they would have to edit it that bad if they showed it here. The violence so far really isn't anything that I haven't seen on Supernatural and there hasn't been any nudity at all. They might have to bleep a couple fucks, thats about it.

Yeah the Angelic thing stuck out to me too

I asked my wife the same thing about the Angelics name since I'm almost positive it was never said once during the first episode. Also, when I saw they were cursing on the show, I thought it was just going to be a couple of times. Until it kept going and every character on the show seems to have to have at least one scene in which they say fuck over something. I'm not bothered by it but I just kept thinking about all the bleeps, or silences, that would go on if the show was ever broadcast over here. I think the other thing that had me thinking of US censors was Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
that scene with the Fades eating one of the kids and then the cops walking through the crime scene and the ripped off arm of one of the boys is hanging from a tree.
For some reason, I just don't see any of that passing US censors. I could be wrong though.

Don't kid yourself. The US would remake this, not re-air it.

BBC America? They just started broadcasting the similarly-themed Bedlam, so as a Yank, I'm hopeful.

Yeah and some told me they censor shit, is that true? They said Bedlam blurred out some girl's ass.

I've heard about censoring as well on BBCA. It's so stupid and I'm not exactly sure why they even do it since the whole point of people who seek out BBCA programming don't want any censorship to begin with. They want the original BBC/UK programs unedited.

Yeah, I just watched the first episode last night. They blurred out quick shots of ass and tits during a bathtub scene. And I think a swear word or two. I'm not thrilled about the censoring, but on the other hand, I'm glad to be getting BBC programming to which I wouldn't otherwise have access.

BBC America I could see, but I thought you were referring to channels Americans actually watch.

Well there are the DVDs that come out and other ways if you don't want to wait like 6 months between them showing it over there and over here.

Ok, finally saw the latest episode today. I just love how this show seems to get better each episode. I don't know what it is with British shows and the writing when it comes to young people but it always seems so much more real than anything shown on US television.

The ending was a bit surprising but I don't really understand why things like that happen on a show when more likely than not, it isn't likely that writers can do much outside what is already expected. Sorry if I'm sounding enigmatic but I don't want to spoil anything.

What is it with Brits and doing genre shows with teens I don't want to immediately strangle?

We're awkward, fumbling underdogs. It makes us likeable. Not these 90210 douchebags played by 30 year olds. We love our realism over escapism.

Yes! I knew I remembered the girl that plays Jay from somewhere!

She played Katie's friend in Kick-Ass. And because I'm an idiot and didn't imdb it I had to waste too much time thinking about it.

Finally caught up with this and I have to say I like where this is going. Although if bad guy is telling the truth, why wouldn't the Angelic's try to reopen ascension if they are capable of it?

So it's over..........anyone?..............anyone?

Ok, finally got around to seeing the last (?) episode and I thought it was great. Again, I just think they'd never be able to do this same show here in the US. Although, I totally can see the WB trying a stab at it and making the shit all emo and worthless. And about that ending...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Jesus, was that shit depressing. Guy loses his girl in a fucked up way that he can't even correct and all the good he thought he (and the audience) was doing may have actually been the worst option.

My wife and I started googling around to see if there was any news about a possible second series, but no word yet. There seems to be mad love for the show across the pond, but the BBC isn't say shit yet. COME ON BBC!

Yeah that ending was something I actually dug quite a bit. Him not wanting to kill the fades was very frustrating when you consider they are already dead and EATING PEOPLE. Especially when the king of all fades is literally beating him to death and then attempts to stab him. At least they finally made it clear that the fades have to keep eating once they are back to stay alive. So I guess it was never the fades that were causing the trouble really but fucking with ascension that finally does it. Why didn't his girl's ghost show up right away? This really does need to come back. You can't end it that way.

If this doesn't come back I'll freak out. You cannot leave the story there. What the hell.

I don't know why but it reminded me a little bit of the season 5 finale of Supernatural. It was kind of like, "Ok, well's that's that. Yep, things didn't exactly end on a happy note, but that's the end. Bye!"
