Rumors of the automotive franchise's future sound very promising.

Statham, The Rock, and Diesel together? Along with THE "bound to be better than part 1" EXPENDABLES 2 on the way? Yes please.

Oh god, I want that movie in my mouth immediately. F5 was great and throwing Statham into a tough guy ensemble like that? Oh hells yeah. I do hope they keep the films as one offs, I love a good long story, but having an epic tale of love, revenge and automobiles isn't something these films needs. Keep it, err, um, fast and furious.

This hypothetical movie is going to be the only way a man could masturbate to scenes of half dressed, oiled up men fighting and be 100% heterosexual about it.

Is humanity even capable of handling that much testosterone in a movie?

I'm completely down with this and it makes absolute sense for the following reasons....

1. Justin Lin backing out of Terminator 5.  Jumping ship on the Highlander remake made sense, as it will be filming at the same time as Fast Six will be.  Not in terms of T5 though.  Arnold will be filming The Last Stand early next year and all signs point to him filming another movie (possibly Captive or Cry Macho) before he even bothers to start high-fiving John Connor again.  This means that Arnold likely wouldn't even be available to film T5 until at least late summer/early fall of next year..................leaving plenty of time for Lin to finish all (or at least the majority) of his work on Fast Six.  Him stepping down makes a whole lot more sense if he will be shooting two Fast films throughout the entirety of 2012.

2. None of the big actors (Diesel, Walker, Johnson) have anything officially scheduled to shoot after Fast Six begins production in the spring.  Johnson just finished GI Joe and is shortly moving on to do Snitch, but doesn't have anything concrete lined up for next year outside of this film.  Diesel is gearing up for Riddick.  He has three other projects in the works, but two of them are still being script and the third (xXx 3) will have to wait until Rob Cohen is ready (if it ever gets made at all).  Walker is shooting something this fall (which will likely go DTV like most of his recent non-Fast films) and isn't scheduled for anything else that I am aware of.  As far as the rest of the cast, I'm sure they can easily work those issues out.

3. Jason Statham has nothing scheduled to shoot after he wraps on The Expendables 2.  Parker is finishing up (or already has) as we speak and his other 2012 release (Safe) was shot awhile back.  He's been rumored for a few other action projects, but nothing has seem to come of them.  Crank 3 is always a possibility, but that seems a ways off as well.......and I'm sure Neveldine & Taylor would wait for him.  This would honestly be a great movie for Statham, so I hope it actually happens.

4. This rumor has cropped up for this franchise before.  Right after Fast & Furious hit it big at the box office, Lin & Co. were chatting up the possibility of filming the 5th and 6th entries back-to-back.  For whatever reason, it didn't come to pass.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if they actually do it this time and serve the duology up as a franchise capper (at least for the core cast), outside of the already-mentioned Hobbs spin-off.

I would love for both rumors to pan out.  I also think that Schwarzenegger & Ellison should definitely wait for Lin to make Terminator 5.  One thing is definitely for certain though.  If this is true, you can sure as shit count on Justin Lin having a golden pass to make whatever the hell he wants to for quite awhile over at Universal.  There is no way in hell that he won't be coming out of this with a sweet production deal.

And now cue the inevitable crazed fanboy rumors that Statham will be reprising his Frank Martin character in this.....

And bald heads? If no, then humanity doesn't deserve to survive.

Who owns the rights to that character? Fox? Europa? Besson?

Europa and Besson, I'm guessing.  Fox distributed the first two and Lionsgate put out the third one.

I don't believe anyone can just "wait" for a Terminator movie, since in 2017 or 2018, the rights revert back to James Cameron.

And they can easily have their duology hit screens in 2014 and 2016 (or 2017) respectively.  They only want to make two anyway............at least that's what the deal is for.  Besides, do you really think Cameron would step on Arnold's toes (so long as the Austrian Oak is still involved once the deadline is reached)?  I doubt it.

Universal own the rights to his Death Race character Jensen Ames!

Either way, it would be a good move for Statham to join up Fast 6 (and Transformers 4 as rumored) and alternate these big franchise films with his usual low budget shooters.

I'm inclined to believe the "Statham in Fast 6" rumors way more than the Transformers 4 ones.  I'm sure Transformers 4 is inevitable (especially since producer Don Murphy has mentioned the possibility of a second trilogy), but it looks like it isn't in active development at all right now.

That's because Statham is busy! wink.gif
