Another great column, gents. (Funny as always, Ham) Glad to know the QT Blus got the deluxe treatment. A shame about DEAD ALIVE, tho.

That read on the opening of Beauty and the Beast (if serious) is even more batshit than 'The Incredibles is Randian propaganda.'

 

The whole point of the opening number is to show how provincial and small minded the village is, and how Belle's mind and willingness to use it makes her a better person, not 'how weird is that chick, with her reading... and... THINKING!'

Jason, I know you put in a helluva lot of effort on this... and I just want you to know that it was worth it (for me, anyway) for the Space Jam story alone.

 

Though I share Fafhrd's bafflement at your characterization of the opening number of B&B: it's the small-minded people of the village who want to limit Belle's horizons, not the writers of the film.
