Tony Todd going mainstream

Anyone read this?

When I've seen him in personal appearances, he seems like a lot more of an actor than horror gives him the opportunity to be. I just hope he doesn't abandon the genre. That would really blow. Anyway, here's the report:

--Tony Todd ("Final Destination," "The Rock") will spark the interest of Andie McDowell's character on the pilot "Jo" for CBS. The Spelling TV-produced drama concerns a veterinarian who moves from Manhattan to join her mom's practice in
North Carolina.

Hey, I'll watch the show. It will be interesting to see him in a more "normal" setting. And he can act, I love his performance in Savini's Dead Redux.

Despite the fur coat and the hook, he'll always be Worf's brother to me.

Actually a really good friend of mine called me about that show. We were possibly going to create the animals for it, but we've never heard back.

Damn! Way to go, Tony Todd! That's awesome. The show might not last more than three episodes, but it's better than having your only gig be a signing at Attack of the Killer B's at Hollywood and Highland.

I started noticing Tony Todd right around the same time I became a Bruce Campbell fan. It used to be neck and neck -- who had the most TV guest shot appearances and weird parts in weird movies. Now I think Tony's in the lead.

A couple months ago he was a gym coach who pushed a student too hard on "Crossing Jordan." And coming up, he'll be playing the old Jewish teacher's long-lost son on "Boston Public." (You see, the teacher is Jewish and racist, and Tony is black. Hilarity will ensue! Oh well, I'll watch it anyway.)

I just love that Tony has played 3 different roles on Star Trek. I think the only other actor to do that was Jeffrey Combs.

Hmmm. If Todd kills McDowell, I'll be there.

Yeah that would be the aforementioned Dead Redux.

If I was Todd at this point I would abandon horror the first chance I got before we're subjected to anymore Candyman films. I mean part one was classic and the others can be described without the letters "C, L, and I."

Good for him. I hope it lasts a little longer than Michael Rooker's awakening...

Anyone see him in that episode of Smallville
he could cause earthquakes when he shook... eek!

Yes! That was pretty good. Tony was a bad guy who wasn't such a bad guy... he was just going nuts cuz no one would believe that LuthorCorp gave him this weird shaky disorder in their secret underground lab.

So that's three guest shots in recent months. I wonder how many of those an actor would have to do in a year to make a comfortable living?
