VAUGHN RETURNS TO MILLAR FOR SOURCE MATERIAL

Always nice to give Mark Millar a new excuse to talk endlessly about his projects.

While I have no complaints, I am kinda surprised that Matthew Vaughn continues to attach himself to superhero properties (be it as a director or producer).  This, another X-Men entry (or two), and The Golden Age all in the past year...................and I'm sure he'll end up producing Kick-Ass 2 if it actually ever gets made.  On top of that, he's still attached in some capacity to adaptations of the graphic novels American Jesus and Turf.  Dude is turning himself into the John Carpenter of comic book movies.

Eh, while I've enjoyed all of Vaughn's films, I think that given the fact my favorite works of his are his non super hero movies, I'd kind of like to see him branch out - especially since everything I've read says that Mark Millar is a not a great author, and most of what worked in KICK ASS owed to Vaughn rather than the source material

I'd love to see him do a SPY MOVIE*, for instance, rather than dive back into costumes and powers

*put Fassbender in the lead and you could have something special

PS My absolute favorite VAUGHN FILM has to be LAYERCAKE, which I saw in 2004. It's a truly crackerjack picture. I saw it late July, within a week of having seen Barack Obama deliver his keynote address at the BOSTON DNC. In the wake of seeing Obama electrify the crowd in Boston, I predicted he'd be President within eight years, and after seeing LAYERCAKE I said that Craig would make the best BOND ever. My powers of perception were on fire that week, and if only I could somehow bottle whatever mojo I had going, I'd be set for life!

After reading an issue of Kick-Ass 2 where the lead villain ("The Motherfucker") leads a gang rape of an underage girl, I am absolutely, positively, 100% done with ANYTHING Mark Millar-related. Fucking noxious.

I won't be surprised at all if Daniel Craig tries to rope Matthew Vaughn in for one of his Bond entries and I would love to see it happen.

That sounds like some fucking stupid shit.  Millar can eat shit.
