Dark whispers emerge from the DREDD offices...

Renn Brown, I hope the film is good despite these...DREDDful Problems!

It feels like they've been making this movie for about five years.

I can't believe they went all the way to South Africa to film it.

Maybe all the poor people can live in the sets when they're finished filming.

Garland taking control, eh?  I know he was initially gunning hard for his buddy Danny Boyle to direct this, so it doesn't really surprise me that he is taking things into his own hands.  Maybe he wanted to direct it himself and they initially wouldn't let him?

Not a good sign. GI Joe? Like that was entertaining or memorable.

Johnny Daywalker, G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra is...Awesome!  It was easilly the...Best film of 2009!  It is too bad that you didn't enjoy it, but to each his/her own!  If Dredd is...1/2 as good as G.I. Joe, then it will be a...Top 5 film in 2012.

I'm still hoping against hope that this will be good. The fact that Garland seems to still be onboard is a small ray of hope.

I just want to see a good Dredd movie. Is this too much to ask?

I was entertained (and shocked considering VAN HELSING), but darn if I can remember anything beyond the cast and costumes.

I like Karl Urban, so I hope this movie turns out OK. Unless the director really did screw something up, I usually err on the side of the creative folks rather than the studio when it comes to determining what a movie needs. It always saddens me when a filmmaker gets locked out of the editing room

Where do you side on this though?  Travis may be the director, but this seems more and more like it was Garland's (and the producer's) baby from the get-go?  It's an odd scenario.

I smell schadenfreude souffle.  And it smells GOOD.

I'd really like to see Karl Urban put this one in the win column.  I like some of his work, but Dredd is one of my favorite comic characters.  I desperately want this one to be good.  What is Neil Marshall up to currently?

Outside of directing an episode of the second season of Game of Thrones?  Nada.  Marshall has a bucketload of projects in the works, but none of them seem to be going anywhere at the moment.

The fact that Marshall isn't immediately among the top three considered directors whenever a genre movie is being set up is fucking baffling.

What's funny (actually, it isn't funny at all) is that his name DOES come up often on those leaked studio "lists" of directors they would like for such projects.  The problem is that he never gets hired...................even when he actively pursues such properties.

Dude got turned down for Predators and Conan the Barbarian, among various other films.  I don't even know where to begin when it comes to how wrongheaded that is.

With Momoa (who actually turned out to be a pretty cool cat) and Marshall directing Conan would have instantly been an infinitely better movie.

I still feel Marshall is a bit of a paper tiger, what with my generally blah reaction to The Descent and Doomsday (though I do have a strong appreciation of Dog Soldiers), but he's currently the only "splat pack" guy I think could actually turn into an interesting filmmaker.

Marshall doesn't compromise. Thats what studios want.

He'll get a couple of shots sooner or later.

I'd just rather it be sooner, that's all.
