Thanks Ken!

looking forward to reading more!  Love all your additions to The Thing threads especially so anything you post on that particular flick is a shoo in for me :)

Also, your Avatar, is that Terrence Hill?  Been meaning to ask for ages.

Welcome to the country club, Bob! Our chats on facebook have been inspiring me to get my blog back up and running. I need to continue posting about the lame shit that happens in my life.

Yes you do, Rene!

And yes, Andy, it's Terrence Hill from My Name Is Nobody (a film that might just get covered at some point).

Warrior seems a little low. I missed the boat on Rango it looks like. I am Number Four over Drive Angry I actually agree.

Sucker Punch over Battle LA, Paul, Your Highness? You are a confident man sir.

Maybe more opinion next time.

I'll include my full opinion on any future additions to the list, but I really didn't want to sit down and hammer out my thoughts on almost 40 films.

To gauge my opinions a bit better though, I'll offer up this.....

Loved - #1-12

Really Enjoyed - #13-23

Decent - #24-35

Disliked - #36-39

Sucker Punch, Battle LA, Paul, and Your Highness all had elements that I liked........but the films as a whole are too middling to rate them any higher.  I Am Number Four and Drive Angry were both fun times at the theater for me.  Neither is a perfect film, but both are very enjoyable.

And Rango is absolutely fantastic.  So is Warrior, despite its current position at #10.

By the way, here's a list of what is on deck for me to watch.  I hope to get around to seeing all of them sometime in the next week or so....

- The Adjustment Bureau

- Blue Valentine

- Hanna

- Hatchet II

- Henry's Crime

- Hobo With A Shotgun

- The Ides of March

- Limitless

- Real Steel

- Source Code

- Stake Land

- The Thing

- Transformers: Dark of the Moon

- The Ward

...and various films available on Instant.

While I'll still be doing my current schtick and starting up other things, a potential project has formulated within my brain for a potential series of blog entries.  It's a little ways off, but I am severely considering reading through the entire run of James Bond novels (re-reading, in most cases) and doing a blog-a-book throughout the whole thing.  Obviously they would be more in-depth and thought out than what I have already tossed out on the web.  Would anyone even be interested in such a thing?

FYI, we are talking 47 books (from 7 different authors), just to give you the magnitude of the undertaking.  I plan on reading through them regardless, but I don't want to take the time & effort to blog about each one if no one is interested in following it.

EDIT - Forgive me, but I'm going to plug the hell out of this on the boards so I can get an accurate response of whether or not I should make the effort to move forward with this undertaking

Until reading CARTE BLANCHE (in the midst of it now), I'd stayed away from BOND NOVELS. My first exposure to Bond was in the form of a skit from the third ever episode of ALL THAT on Nick called "Jimmy Bond", where he faced off against "Cold Finger". I asked my mom about that skit, she told me about Bond, and we rented GOLDFINGER. The rest is history. With the film Bond so indelibly associated with my feelings on the character, I'd wanted to avoid having to compare literary Bond and Movie Bond lest I grow to favor one and resent the other

I've still always been curious about the books though, and it would be cool to hear your thoughts on the various series. I watched JAMES BOND JR when I was younger, so I'm a bit weary of a young adult Bond, but I'd still like to hear your impressions on what you consider worth while about them

While my interest (speaking only for myself) probably doesn't extend to reading 47 different blogs, I'd definitely appreciate a guide to the 7 Bond authors you mentioned, or perhaps 7 articles on the different authors who have all gotten the official nod to take a crack at Bond

Good blog, thanks for reading my post!

Awesome.  Thanks for the suggestion, Kate.  I will probably do an overview of each author upon finishing their run with the character.....................at least for Fleming, Gardner, Benson, and Higson.  The other four only wrote one a piece (though Deaver might do another one), so my opinions on their work will likely be contained within the blogs for those books.  I'll be sure to update things in a few threads on the board (mine, Bond, and B Movie) so everyone knows where I'm at in the process.  That way you can chose to read only the overview installments if you wish.

I'm on the verge of updating my 2011 viewing list, if anyone is interested.  I've actually managed to sit down and watch a lot of new stuff this week, in between the constant barrage of horror movies that I am putting my wife and son through.  If all goes well, it will be up later today or sometime tomorrow at the latest.  I'm also cooking up something else that should appear within the next couple of days.

The Bond book thing - I would LOVE to read you do that!!!

I'm definitely going to do it.  If all goes well, I'll start tearing into Casino Royale this week.  The Fleming novels aren't very long, so I will breeze through them more quickly.  The part that will take a bit is working out the format I want to go with for the series of blog entries.

Anyway, I'll have the updated "Year So Far" list up soon...........basically after I watch a couple more films over the next two days.  Might post something else as well before the Bond installments start showing up.  I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date and give an idea of when they will start appearing.

Looking forward to whatever you come up with! I've never read the Flemming works, so it will be good info for me to have

This one was put off for far too long.....

http://www.chud.com/73846/the-year-so-far-2011-part-three/

I really need to get my ass in gear and start watching new films again.  Halloween kind of (understandably) threw me off due to the incessant need to marathon horror films.  I have a pile of films ready-to-watch (both on the shelf and on Instant), so here's hoping my next update will be a substantial one.  I'm shooting for next week, but it might end up being the week after depending on how busy I am the next few days.  I'll probably post a blog of random thoughts later in the week as well.  Rambling aside, I'm still brainstorming about how to go about formatting my Bond pieces once the time comes to start writing them up.  I plan to begin reading Casino Royale tomorrow.  It's a short read, but I might just plow through both it and Live And Let Die before I post the first piece.  That way I can compare and contrast the books enough to formulate some sort of idea of how I want to tackle this massive project in writing.  Basically, when ready, the first two entries of the "A Literary Bond" series will appear fairly close to one another.  After that, they will be a little more spaced out.  The goal is to have the first two up by the end of the month at the absolute latest.

Also, I actually have two articles up on the main site for those who are interested.  I had a lot of fun writing both and hope to continue contributing in the future.  Be it on the main site or among the blogs, I hope everyone is having as much fun reading my work as I am having writing it.

Any suggestions on what kind of information you would like to see in the Bond pieces?

The next entry of my "Year So Far" blog should FINALLY be up in the next day or so.  I've been quite occupied with writing pieces for the main site, so it had fallen by the wayside.  I'm going to try and watch another handful of films before posting it Friday or Saturday night.

The final installment of the 2011 edition of "The Year So Far" until I post an actual "Top Films of 2011" list.................which should arrive in two weeks or less.  I figure if I'm going to put one up late, I might as well wait a bit longer and get a few more movies in.

As for the 2012 edition?  The first one will probably go up as soon as I have seen at least five new releases from this year.

These are outstanding write ups!  I love the positive attitude you bring to your writing, it wonderfully conveys the genuine excitement you have for film in general and this years coming releases in particular.  I share your opinion on most of these.  I'm not sold on Prometheus, you know my opinion on Scott.  I will say, that trailer is incredible, but the fact I don't like any of his films outside of Hannibal gives me pause.  I'm also beyond excited for Wrath of the Titans, nice to see someone else can appreciate the original AND the remake.  Fun movies are fun movies, plain and simple.  Looking forward to what you think of the second half of the year line up!

I'm going to try and write up the next two entries over the next week.  Possibly the "indie films that I have no idea when they will be released or when I'll get to see them" entry as well.

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm really looking forward to Wrath Of The Titans as well, since Bullet To The Head has been delayed. Ugh. I hate just having to type that.

Let's just hope the delay is out of a desire to actually have time to promote Bullet.........and not because they've just decided to dump it later in the year.
