Scarlett boob-to-face smother-fu!

Scarjo doing a HURRICANRANA in her Black Widow Casual-Wear is one of the funnier shots in the trailer.

I just want to put this here, and note of the group

IRON MAN UNO - $318 Domestic

HULK $132 Domestic

IRON MAN 2 was not well loved. I doubt this movie cost less than $200 Million. It's worth thinking of it as an underdog.

But, and this is the kicker for me, the film looks to be shot flat (which I noticed at D23). You can't have an awesome line up shot of your heroes in 1.78:1.

EW said the budget is 220

The guy who's a superhero because of steroids has a lot of nerve talking smack to Iron Man.

Well, aside from the serum not being steroids and Tony Stark being one of the most self-aggrandizing superheroes out there...yeah.

Stark is going to own this movie but I'm sold on that trailer alone.

The one concern I had about Joss Whedon’s The Avengers was that it wouldn’t look big enough.

Strange, as this was the biggest feeling I had coming out of the trailer. It's already a given, between the actors who have been cast, their previous performances, and Joss Whedon being on board, that the dichotomy of all their interactions is basically guaranteed. So, from the get-go, the action has been my biggest concern, as it always tends to be the weakest parts of most of these movies (Iron Man climax, Iron Man 2 entirely, Captain America's dullness, etc.). This trailer didn't really alleviate those fears any more than the teaser did. All of the editing looks poor, with a bunch of reaction shots to things we can't directly attribute it to (exploding cars! firing rockets! dodging debris!). Hopefully, the choppy nature is more of a trailer cut than cinematic one, but I kinda doubt it.

Andre's parade-rain aside, I just had a Hulk-sized nerdgasm.

GOO!

Since this film is being shot in 1.78 anyway... I'm hoping that it's definitely going for an IMAX release.  That would make up for the fact that such an ensemble movie not being shot in scope.

If we get an IMAX release, it's going to be in 3D. so it's like lose lose in my book.

This looks exactly like the action-packed, geeky crowd-pleaser I thought it would be. And that's totally fine with me. Loving the interaction so far.

That and the random shot of her frozen while the explosion goes off in the background.  Other than that, looked fine.  Didn't blow my mind, but it looked fine.

Looks like a lot of fun, but so much footage this early in the game threatens to burst the whole bubble. One superhero against a very specific threat is one thing, but get all these costumed heroes together and it's like peeking behind the curtain; the suspension of disbelief is shattered.

Still, exciting!

Yep looks like good fun. The Bat and the Kryptonian have my heart as far as next years superhero blockbusters go, but yeah, this definitely looks like a fun night out at the local cinematography theater.

I'll bet you money that shot was intended to look like a comic book panel, like Wesley Snipes pausing when he landed after every jump to strike a Blade action pose.

I'm not saying it's effective. I actually like to see heroes moving in moving pictures. I'm just guessing at the intent.

Do or do not, there is no intent!

Yeah, but when Blade did it it worked because he was a cocky motherfucker. Like when he did that fist pump at the beginning of the first movie or making kissing gestures at his car. It just had a playful feel to it. Not that this won't, but it worked with Blade.

That being said, I still am really looking forward to this. This may be my must see movie of the last few years, just because I'm such a Marvel nerd. I was kinda underwhelmed by the trailer, but my optomism supercedes all...

Its alright. It doesn't make me want to see it tomorrow though. Hilariously the only one who comes out looking great is Downey Jr which is what we all thought in the beginning.

No one on this team can over match him. Captain America should be more front and center.

It's kinda wonderful how well the original Blade continues to hold up in the face of more and more superhero releases. God damn that's a fun little movie.

Seconded on that. I wish that same filmmaker (Norrington) had kept making movies like that. Shit I wish the old New Line Studios from that time was still around as well.

(edited to take out a bad choice in image)

I think it works with Blade because a fist-pump is so damned dorky (and I think the makers of Blade knew it) that it ends up being hilariously awesome in a movie that just opened with a slaughter of a vampire nightclub.

Scarlet posing sexily in front of a wall of explosions is immediately tired.  People trying to look awesome in front of fireballs is tired.  Transformers 3 already did it this year.  I mean, jeez... it has its own tumblr.

The one in The Dark Knight was great because the Joker's waddle was anything but cool.  Nice spin on the cliche.  And then there's this!

psst nooj - is that Blade gif really the one you wanted to use?

I hope not.  That was a real downer, man.  Not funny at all.

Sorry guys.  I tried looking for a more appropriate one, but couldn't.  I went back and forth on leaving it up.  Looks like I chose poorly.  I'll take that one out.

The Rain Dog, The Man Of Steel, will stay in his Fortress Of Solitude til...June 14th 2013!  2012  includes these Comic Book Films...

1) The Avengers

2) Ghost Rider Spirit Of Vengeance

3) Dredd

4) The Dark Knight Rises

5) The Amazing Spider-Man

Thanks Duke. Ah well, there's still one I'm passionate about, one I'm now looking forward to and one I have a kind of sickly blind optimism might be watchable.

I feel like the trailer was far too light in tone, too flippant. Despite MARVEL's best efforts, most of these heroes are no where close to BATMAN, SUPERMAN, SPIDERMAN ETC in terms of the level of fame they have attained in the public consciousness. There needed to be more done to set up the heroes themselves in the trailer, the names THOR, CAPTAIN AMERICA, IRON MAN ETC needed to be spoken aloud and with reverence. The trailer should have acted as if this was as epic as the teaming of SUPERMAN AND BATMAN, even if this wasn't justice league. Instead, as some have already stated, it feels tonally more like an IRON MAN 3, and the rest of the heroes feel ill defined

Flatly shot, and kind of shoddy looking. I wish that were not my reaction but it is

PS I liked STARK'S line about "at least we can avenge it", ETC. The trailer needed more of that. Instead it had terrible rock song sound track, and rather than closing out on a note of awe and awesomeness, it ended with a cheeky comedy moment

The Rain Dog, You are welcome!

Something looks off, guess I'll stick to Batman.

Yeah, they should have gotten an Oscar winner to do the music.  Like this guy...http://www.thedeadbolt.com/news/110184/trent_reznor_social_network_oscar_speech_news.php

I guess no other movie would be stupid enough to use that guy for their music and marketing.

Except maybe Fincher for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

It's just your simple "teaser" trailer. Complaining about the music is kind of a mute point right now.

It's also a "moot" point as well.

But then you "should of" known that, Nick....biggrin.gif
