Psych Season 6

It's about damn time. Tonight Shawn and Gus return.

I was about to post in the Hawaii five o thread that McGarrett and Danno were becoming my favorite bro duo, and then I remembered Psych is returning today.

Can't wait!

This has to be right up there with the Simpsons when it comes to great guest stars. I still want Anthony Michael Hall and Emilio Esteve to finish off the Breakfast Club group on ir

Loved the reverse episode where we see Young Shawn at the end beating the lie detector test.

Smart first ep and I wonder if they will continue with Shawn's sloppy and careless actions this season, because I expect some serious rammificiations even for a comedy show.

And yeah, that kid just might grow up to be an A-hole.

Last night's episode was hilarious.

Leeroy Jenkins!!

Gus freaking out about his car was awesome. They are on fire so far this season.

Too late to make Hustle & Flow references?

loved everyone jumping over the rails into the pool. That and Ed Lover stopping by.  Very fun episode.

I would probably put the latest episode in my top 5 of all time. Started a little slow, joke wise, but once it took off it was pretty incredible. Bringing Woody along for the ride was certainly a big part of its success. Every single word out of Kurt Fuller's mouth was golden.

Love this show, and it's NEVER too late for some Three 6 Mafia.

I would have liked more Corey Feldman, but I'll take more Swanson anyday. She was perfect for Lassie.

Gus should have dressed up as Blade.

Another winner. Loved the faces Gus was making when he first showed up in costume. Also liked Juliet as the "babysitter".

The "See you next Wednesday" gag at the end was very odd and much appreciated. Swanson was a great guest choice. They really brought out her much missed early appeal.

I was a little sad at the truth in Shaun's "Nobody knows who Blackula is except us...and Quentin Tarantino" - I think that they're admitting they're fighting an uphill battle with most of their references inside the show and outside. But at least they're going down swinging and without compromise.

Considering how much a comic book fan I am, this episode was rather underwhelming. Not bad, but it was nowhere as strong as The Hangover and vampire episodes that aired previously. On that note, I really do hope they bring Swanson's character back for another episode. It was nice to see Lassie be happy for a change.

Well I enjoyed the 60's Batman homage.. very well done.  Also Joey Mcintyre of NKTB was damn funny as the ripped cop.

The commune episode of Psych was pretty good just for Shawn's more straight man role and Gus acting all foolish for a change.

What is it with Gus going for crazy women this season? This wont end well

I had trouble following this episode, every time Diora Baird was onscreen I went into a drooling trance.

Gus' reaction to the ring was more than enough to get me excited for the rest of the season.  Well done episode and what was it that Jules said that Shawn said at the beginning?

Slumberparty, nakie time, drinky drinky.

hilarious.

Pretty great episode. The Shawn and Jules partnership worked surprisingly well on the comedy side, and the guy trio was just fucking gold.

And the ring reaction was kinda wonderful. This show continues to impress even in season 6.

The ring thing was actually pretty interesting. I believed Shawn when he said he wasn't ready for marriage at all, but the fact that he was going to propose because he thought that was what Jules wanted is a more interesting way to play it out. It's also a nice capper to the 'Shawn really wants his Nintendo' gag.

Is it too much to hope for a whole episode devoted to the guy trio.

And we're back!  I liked seeing Despereaux again and Shawn's giant crush on him.

Wait..what...it's back already. Shit...I missed it.

It's up on Hulu now.

Loved the Shawn Gus fight on the lawn..

and I loved Shawn's emotional speech about death at the funeral.

I so hope that the museum guide and Woody hook up. That lever of freak is gold

If anyone is interested, Tim Omundson gets interviewed on the Pop My Culture podcast, where he talks Psych, Deadwood, and Luck of the Irish

(Yep, all the important roles.)

"you went low to high".

Great episode. Loved that they addressed the ring right off the bat instead of letting it sit in the background until he season finale.

The horror themed episodes of Psych are always a hoot. Loved Lassie's slow (but hilarious) descent into madness.

The reaction from Shawn and Gus when they realize Lassie wants to hire them was pure gold.

Gus was really channeling his inner Duvall when Lassie was chasing him....

Sara Rue did an amazing job as crazy lady. And we all know Gus loves crazy girls.

I stumbled across this interview with Dule Hill and James Roday....

I thought this might be an episode to look forward to-

Question: So one of the several traditional things in terms of psychos going crazy to watch every new episode is of course Gus's nicknames, the "Gus don't be," they heard it both ways and the pineapples. What are you going to show us in those department this season?

James Roday: Well there's definitely some nicknames, there's definitely some Gus Don't Bes. One that we're particularly proud of that you'll see in the Jennifer Lynch episode entitled Guillermo del Toro presents (Autopsy Turvy), which will air late in the season. So asterisk that one for a Gus Don't Be. I don't want to spoil it. And I believe there's still a pineapple every episode. I think that's just a machine that kind of takes care of itself.

I've watched this show from day one and I'm sad to admit I've never seen a damn pineapple.  I never remember to look until it's too late!

Uh, really?  Even when they gave the captain a pineapple as a baby gift?

See, totally don't remember that.  It happened?  I think I have a mental pineapple block.

Loved Sean and Gus dressed up as the Ghostbusters.

Glad they got Kristy Swanson back for another episode.

Also, Jay Chandrasekhar is keeping busy as a director. He did this and an episode of Happy Endings that aired on the same night!

Loved Sean being on the iPad. Swanson also looked super cute. Loved when she punched Lassiter for cred.

Wow, that was one hell of a season finale.

I figured something was going to happen once we started to see things play out, but I wasn't sure they would go there.

Yeah, the Chinatown riff was really well done.  "His sister, his girlfriend, his sister..."  lol.  Also, Gus's escalating sugar addiction is really funny.  Kinda like the cop who develops a drinking problem.

Some good development with the Sean/Juliette relationship, which really hasn't been developed all that much since the show really started.  Sean agreeing to sort-of move in with her was actually kinda a big step for him.

I was very surprized at the ending since it was such a serious moment that this show just isn't really known for.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'm hoping the show actually has the balls to kill of Henry Spencer and forcing Sean to develop a bit more now that his dad is dead.  But I'm guessing they'll just have him be in a coma or something for a few episodes before recovering.

Also, Woody the coroner has got to be one of the best characters on this show.  I can't stop laughing when he's on screen.  One can only hope for a spin-off!  lol.

I really wish USA would stop with these mini-seasons.  I'd like to watch a full run of this show without the long breaks in between.  It's just too fun to go without until the fall.

all I can say is damn.

How long til next season?

September I believe?

No way do they...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Kill Henry unless Bernsen wants out. I just don't see it happening.

Fantastic episode. Gus saying "and my people can vote" killed me. So did his sugar obsession.

I actually kinda like the brokenup seasons like this.

This was actually the closest I think they've come to a normal season, 16 episodes during the normal run.  Not bad for what started as a summer replacement show.  As it's the longest running original USA show and going into its 7th season, I think they are for real.  Time to shake up the status quo!

Every season has been 15/16 episodes, and every season has had a couple month break in the middle.
