LIAM NEESON PROBABLY WON’T SIT ON HIS ASS IN TAKEN 2

Let's not make synopsis mountains out of plot note molehills.

It's pretty clear to me that this "plot synopsis" is really just the set-up for the whole movie. And I think it's a good one. It suggests a central theme of vengeance. What bothers me is no mention of any of Neeson's poker buddies from the first one and I was really hoping for more of them in action. It seems logical, even, that Bryan Mills would seek them out for help rather than endanger his own daughter again.

But everything else I like. I especially like that there's a real central villain to the piece (that was the one element I felt lacking in the first one) and that he's played by a really good actor.

It's sad that between TAKEN and TAKEN 2, my interest in Liam Neeson ACTION STAR has dropped off the map. His humorless and sullen on screen persona has sapped whatever joy I might once have found in the concept of Liam Neeson as a crazy gun toting bad ass. Where it used to seem fresh and unexpected, now it's played out. TAKEN had some style and a fairly propulsive narrative, but it's sequel will have to be pretty special to keep my interest after UNKNOWN ETC

Maybe it's because I actually quite liked Unknown that I can't share your view Kate.

If anything, I'm thrilled by this new facet of Neeson's career as a badass action star.

What's the "etc"..?

Maybe she's referring to his five-second cameo as Steve McQueen in The Next Three Days.

Looking over his filmography, I realize I feel as if he's already been in far more dour action films since TAKEN than he's actually done, but I guess between his sullen Zeus, and his slightly underwhelming A-Team character, I just feel tired of the Neeson we've been getting these past few years

(though I'll admit I liked his sullen bad ass character in THE NEXT THREE DAYS)

And yet, this dude will be fist-fighting wolves with broken mini liquor bottles taped to his mitts.

Advantage, Liam.

Haha, I am holding out hope for that one to be good. I love THE EDGE, and feel there currently exists a distinct paucity of crackerjack survival thrillers in the movie sphere
