112. The Simpsons Seasons 3-9 (1991-1997)

One I had in my back pocket was seasons 3-9 of The Simpsons.   It's hard to remember but at one time, The Simpsons were an anti establishment , angry little show that was merciless in its satire and razor sharp in its wit.   The fact that it's been mediocre to horrible more years than it's been good doesn't stamp out this  brilliant run of episodes during the 90's.

I always thought we should do a one-hour television drama draft.  That could be a barn-burner.

I would so be on board with that. Just be prepared to see me hunt down anyone who dares to take Friday Night Lights before me.

Let's do it. The Chewers' Top 50 One-Hour TV Dramas Of All Time

I'm guessing #1 would be The Wire

Are you suggesting an official draft or just another list thread?  A draft might be truly cutthroat.  Shit, just the first round of everyone scrapping for the same five or six shows would be hilarious.

I'm a light-weight "list" guy so I'd be for that kind of thread rather than a draft one.

The problem with a 50 best hour longs is how skewed towards cable and the Aughts it would be.   That's not to say pre-1999 TV sucked but the jump in quality is dramatic.   I'd be all for such a list though.

Everything from "Gunsmoke" to "Game of Thrones."  We could get 50 easily.

Maybe but I think that there are a number of forgotten or cult one-hours to cover the pre-1999 spread. For every Sopranos there's a Miami Vice & for every Breaking Bad there's a Sapphire & Steel. I'd like to think that Chewers are a little more creative than just checking off the contemporary dramas that happen to make this current renaissance.

113.

1994, dir. Richard Donner

Another forgotten classic.

114. Smoke Signals (1998) d. Chris Eyre

I'm kicking myself for forgetting one of my favorite movies of the decade. Fuck!

"Arnold got arrested, you know. But he got lucky. They charged him with attempted murder. Then they plea-bargained that down to assault with a deadly weapon. Then they plea-bargained that down to being an Indian in the Twentieth Century. Then he got two years in Walla Walla."

"The only thing more pathetic than Indians on TV is Indians watching Indians on TV."

115) Hudson Hawk (1991)

A misunderstood classic and funny as Hell.

Darwin Mayflower: I'll kill your friends, your family, and the bitch you took to the prom!
Hudson Hawk: Betty Jo Byarski? I can get you an address on that, if you want.

Narrator: Long ago, the Duke of Milan commissioned a little known artist to erect a Mammoth statue of a horse. The time was 1481... The artist was Leonardo da Vinci... The guy on the donkey's just a guy on a donkey.
