A deeper look at the world of the SHERLOCK HOLMES sequel.

I look at a film like INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, which while flawed, managed to have me on the edge of my seat with it's dialog and intellectual cat and mouse sequences. Then I think about the fact we've gotten a new, big budget Holmes franchise, and it's entirely predicated on speed ramping action and impossible feats of deductive power that play out like magic tricks.. and well, it's just very sad

I'm sorry Downey Jr has gone along with this torturous excess. More explosions.. yippee. Wake me up when a real detective movie comes out

Controversial, possibly insane opinion:

The first Sherlock Holmes movie is my favorite live-action Batman film.

I had absolutely no clue that Rachel McAdams was going to be in this until this trailer.  Still ain't seeing this, though.

Huh... McAdams is still in this?  I guess she doesn't even warrant headlining this one though.

Stephen Fry poster on his twitter account that he was recently called back to film so more Mycroft scenes, so there is still hope.

Enjoyed the first one, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one as well. I know it gets a lot of crap for being the bastardized action movie cousin of the books, but it's an interpretation of the character I find entertaining even if it is goofier, sort of a Batman versus a Batman Begins. It's what I'd expect from a blockbuster version of the character, and if you're looking for a stripped-down realistic take on the character it's not like there aren't plenty of options for that. Hell, the recent BBC series was all about the dialogue and characterization, and I dug that as well. I can buy favoring one version over another, but the "fuck you, that ain't Sherlock" argument seems a tad close-minded.

As much as enjoyed the first one and hope to enjoy this, this movie's existence causes my mind to start screaming "WHY IS NO ONE MAKING THE LIST OF SEVEN? FUCK!"

I heard she's a cameo only. Still this new trailer makes me a little more hopeful that this will be entertaining ride at least.

I like this one but I agree that Moriarty doesn't do enough menacing. He doesn't feel formidable.

It looks about as fun as the first one, so I'll be seeing it.  I fully expect MI:4 to be the higher quality sequel this December though.

Sherlock Holmes and the case of the slow-motion gunfire.  I'm in.
