Also, PIRATES 5 is outlining. Nothing else there.

Wait, is there another Transformers movie officially slated to come out in 2013?  Or is Bruckheimer simply bringing it up in terms of surpassing the spectacle of those movies?

Mentioning it alongside The Hobbit makes the statement a bit ambiguous about that detail.

I think it's a general comment, though there's plenty of the same old "talks about TF4" going around the last few days.

mcnooj82, I think the...Latter!  Hopefully Hasbro and Paramount will wait for a possible return by...Michael Bay to direct Transformers 4!  Best Guess, is the next Transformers would be a...2014 release.

I'm beyond exhausted with Johnny Depp.  I saw a TV spot for The Rum Diary and let out an audible noise of disgust, which tickled my boyfriend to no end.  I know that I shouldn't actively root for films to fail, because that means that someone will lose their job, but I truly, deeply hope that every single stupid big-budget Depp film from here on out fails harder than the Bay of Pigs operation.  I want him to be publicly shamed.  I want every single bomb to be splashed all over Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.  Perhaps if this happens, his hand will be forced and he will have no other option but to fucking ACT again rather than mug for the camera like some obnoxious YouTube celebrity.  Fuck him and fuck this movie with a smegma-covered cock.

HarleyQuinn22, WOW, that was quite the...DEPPth Charge you dropped on Johnny!

I don't think I felt any ire towards Depp until his comment about how he'll keep doing Jack Sparrow "until they stop paying me stupid money." Which, I dunno... I totally agree with his point, but that's such an ugly way of putting things.

I feel like a grandma.

This sounds simply terrible. Supernatural coyotes? This has nothing to do with what makes westerns interesting (IMHO), and I doubt it will appeal to audiences either. I'm so sick and tired of pointless and bloated bombast. Give me a kick ass, ground level western with a really bad ass train chase. That's all a 'blockbuster' western needs to be. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN on horseback sounds like about as terrible a concept as I can imagine

I couldn't have said it better myself. In the years since POTCTCOTBP I've gone from an ardent Depp supporter to someone who wouldn't feel put out if he never got a chance to mug for the camera again

And PS, nothing wrong with rooting for films to fail. If bad, creatively bankrupt movies make mega bank, studios will churn out more like them. BOX OFFICE=POLITICS, and so I can very much get behind the idea of hoping the bad movies fail, forcing Hollywood to try something else

I'm not sure I agree about the "lost" revenue of DVD.

Digital distribution promises much higher margins on sales and rentals.  DVDs and BluRays have to be authored, mastered, printed, shipped, artwork created...  But after providing a file to Apple/Amazon to host for sale/rental , there's next to no cost.

Right now the problem is that Studios are charging almost the exact same price for an HD movie on iTunes as they are the BluRay, so that's not spurring sales- and they're doing that because they don't want to undercut what's left of the physical disk market.  But I think the high prices are just driving people to download illegally.

I'd love to know what the per unit price is for an average BluRay movie.  I'd be willing to bet that after all is said and done, studios could cut the price of digital sales and STILL bring in the same profits.

Supernatural coyotes, btw? Great rockabilly band name.

They’re outlining Pirates 5, having decided they can do better than the script they have.

So maybe they'll use non-brain damaged monkeys for the new script?
