WACHOWSKIS ASCEND TO JUPITER

You would think the Matrix films would have allowed them blank checks at WB for life. But I guess if you make them a billion dollars once, you gotta do it everytime.

They already cashed that blank check with Speed Racer.

I think you mean, Matrix Film.  

They may have got a blank check after Reloaded opened, but it was canceled soon after Revelations.  

Speed Racer had to of been made with some type of high interest loan that their grandkids will be paying back.  

Hell, Zack Snyder did Watchmen, it did okay. Then he did the owl movie, it bombed. Then came the disaster that was Sucker Punch. After all that, he gets the keys to the Superman franchise?

I'm sure they will eventually find financing for Cobalt Neutral 9....................especially if this and/or Cloud Atlas do well.

Dawn of the Dead did well, 300 did really well, and Watchmen had a solid opening, and strong DVD sales. 

The Owl thing, is probably something they will never take into consideration.  

His films are accessible, something the Wachowski's can't say.  (never saw Sucker Punch, so that might be the exception) 

His visual flair got him Superman, which I'm excited to see.  Not to mention,  Synder seems like a pretty cool dude, the Wachowski's... ugh... 

The Matrix trilogy was insanely profitable.  Speed Racer was one movie.  I don't care how terrible it did, the trilogy buys ALOT of fuck ups.  M. Night Shymalan still gets blockbuster properties to toy with.

Not to mention the Wachowski produced V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin made good money.

Exactly.  To be a LITTLE fair to Warner Brothers though, they DO constantly offer the Wachowskis tentpole projects on a yearly basis.  I don't think there is a single DC property is the scripting stages that hasn't been offered to those two at least once.  I'm pretty sure they were gunning hard for awhile to get them to do Man of Steel (along with a handful of other directors) before they landed on Snyder.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if WB said "give us something we can sell the shit out of and then we will finance your little movie".  And thus their sci-fi epic (I'm assuming) Jupiter Ascension was born.  Basically a "one for them (and us)" followed by a strictly "one for us" deal.  That's what I would do.
