Which would be a privilege for anyone, no?

Solo's a massively arrogant bellend, so this works. Now get Paul Bettany for Kuryakin and we're set.

This Wahlberg-Russell rift sounds disheartening.

Not terribly surprising, though, given Russell's reputation for being a dick to just about everyone.

I would have liked for Clooney to be in a movie people see for once. But alas.

Soderbergh's retirement saddens me. But the idea that he's going out with a big spy movie makes me think he'll be reaching deep into his bag of tricks. As always with him, I'm fucking there.

Wait...we almost had a Soderbergh directed TMFU movie starring Clooney? Cooper is a MASSIVE step down for a Napoleon. Why bother?

Cooper picking up Clooney's scraps?  You mean, besides Renee Zellweger?  Zing!

Interested in hearing more about this Wahlberg/Russell feud.  Wahlberg used to be one of his biggest defenders.

It always seemed to me that Wahlberg was following Russell around like an annoying little dog. Every other project Russell's name was attached to, Wahlberg's name was brought up, but seemingly more by the actor himself. Maybe it was Wahlberg being Russell's boss on The Fighter that really brought things to a head, what with both of these guys having alpha dog personalities.

On topic. I would like to have sex with Bradley Cooper. In French.

The actual story itself behind their feud is pretty silly. Basically Wahlberg had some stipulation in his contract where if Anne Hathaway left the project, he got an extra million bucks for starring. She did leave and instead of paying him the extra million, the producers booted Wahlberg. Since Russell was complicit in this, I guess, a feud resulted.

It's pretty silly to me. We always take it for granted that actors should take big pay cuts when working on projects that have what is perceived to be greater artistic merit -- Clooney getting paid a dollar for certain films, etc. For Wahlberg to charge into Silver Linings, which is sure to be a low-budgeter (not too sure on this though) and demand millions of bucks, exploiting contract loopholes and the like, is probably something most of us can agree is unprofessional, considering the crowd he's running in (i.e., one that also includes the guy who made Spanking the Monkey and I Heart Huckabees). It's good business sense, I suppose (and Wahlberg does seem to have that, with his producing efforts being so successful and all). But you don't apply the same moviemaking mentality to this movie that you would to a Shooter or a Max Payne or even The Fighter. You would expect Wahlberg to know that.

Count me in on that!

Come on, Renn, dish out the gossip!

I'm wondering if they're running with the more earnest early vibe of the TV show or the later campy vibe. I feel like Cooper's strength is in the comedic.

Doesn't sound like a "loophole" to me, it sounds like a part of his deal that was worked out for these specific circumstances

Anyway, I must wonder if perhaps some of this has to do with THE FIGHTER. In all the interviews I read, there seemed to be some tension, below the surface, that Whalberg wanted to run the show, as the project was his baby, and how Russell at times felt as if he'd been brought on simply to execute Whalberg's vision rather than make it his own. I read an EW interview where Whalberg was almost bragging about his level of creative control on the film, and how in the future he'd play by Russell's rules on whatever project the two teamed up on next. With a guy like Russell, I couldn't help but wonder if tensions could result from working in close quarters with Whalberg in that atmosphere, despite the two being friends

EDIT: I don't like Cooper as a leading man though, so this is kind of bad news, as far as I'm concerned
