The League on FX, Season 3

Odd that nobody had started a thread on this yet.  This is one of those shows that I don't typically think of as great but I always find myself anxiously looking forward to new episodes.

Ruxin getting cut off mid-sentence to find out Kevin had met Matthew Barry and responding with "What the TITS?" literally almost made me spit out my drink.

I was not prepared for Mark DuplASS.  "Really?  Eye contact?  AND a half chub?"

I love Taco's ideas about dating.  "I'm going to go in the bathroom and date this waitress."

Was that the premiere episode? First one I've watched and I enjoyed the Hell out of it. Great ensemble and I love that the guys have functional relationships with women, at least some of them. The dude vulturing the au pair was fantastic.I'm going to have to follow up on past seasons.

The seasons are short, and very worth it.

This was the 3rd episode this season I believe.  The premiere episode had a great guest shot from Seth Rogen as a scummy porn director (it's a long explanation, let's just say it's a bad idea to sit down at Andre's home now) and explains why their fantasy league draft went to hell.

The second episode revolved more around Ruxin and wanting to get his kid into a certain private school.  It also had 2 separate laugh out loud swastika jokes.

The thing I love is how secondary fantasy football really is.  I think people hear the concept and if they aren't familiar with football they kind of tune out, but it's just a really funny show.  Football knowledge isn't really necessary.

To this day, I still chuckle over Ruxin's, "So...do you see yourself more as a rapist who does magic, or a magician who rapes?", from the premiere.

I love this show, it never fails to bring the laughs.  A particular scene in the Mr. McGibblets episode is season one had me laughing harder than I had in a long damn time.  Damn fine show!

I couldn't sleep last night so got up and watched this.  I actually chose to watch it over Sunny, for some reason this show just seems to bring out the belly laughs in me.

"No baby Jeffery, no water cookies!"

The entire fire crotch scene literally had me in tears.  So much build up to so much pay off.

The League is consistently funnier than Always Sunny.  There, I said it.

I like this show as much as the next guy...but you are nutty. There, I said it.

Thank you, Sherlock Homeless!

Ray Liotta was a perfect guest start for this show.  Every moment with him and Ruxin (Skippy!) was gold.

I might be the only one still watching this.  I don't care.  Sarah Silverman and Jeff Goldblum?  Yes, please.  The fact that they'd end up hooking up was choreographed like crazy but the scene when the guys walked in made it worthwhile.

Shakespeare!

Not as good as the duckling episode of Louie, but a close second.

PK Ruxin was a joy.  I noticed this was co-written by Nick Kroll and he obviously enjoyed letting himself loose a bit.  For some reason that extended scene of him dancing for Taco's landlord (while forcing Taco to lay down a beat) really struck my funnybone.  That and his unbridled joy at the end "It feels like I'm wearing a tiny hat!"

Also loved the idea of a reverse intervention for a friend who got lame when he stopped drinking.  It's evil, but it's funny.

"How long are we going to do this?"

I was shocked they didn't have a sober Ruxin scene at the end, just so we could see him trying to burn his body clean.

There are people I'd like to have a reverse intervention for. How is sober and miserable better than drunk and sometimes miserable?

I tried not to, but I couldn't help trying to picture how one would, "Sit in gum". I never quite found an image that wasn't just a testicle hanging out of a zipper.

This is the only live-action comedy I watch these days. I don't think there's been a bad episode yet this season.

Goldblum's orgasmic scream is something that's haunted my dreams since.

I missed the last couple of episodes. How was Will Forte?

He was mostly subdued but fit in quite well.  He sat in gum a lot.

I like a few comedies right now, but The League really seems like it's constantly right up my comedy alley.  This last episode and the Silverman/Goldblum episodes are probably my favorites this season but it really hasn't been bad even once.

This is hands down mine and my girlfriends favorite comedy, and consistantly makes us laugh harder than Sunny has in the last few years.  My girlfriend literally gagged last night when Ruxin put that beer pong ball in his mouth.  I could totally hear him when he comes to his senses and remember's Senior Crabs, "I'm forever unclean!"

As much as I hate to say it, keep the testicles in the pants, just drop the brain, it can work.

Sunny has been so over the top great on occaision that it is hard to rate it against the consistently funny but more contained league.

As a piece of art deserving comment Sunny beats this by miles, but for reliable laughs this season the league is a steady performer.

Though Silverman and Goldbloom's episode is the best from either show this season.
